They're both great, thank you! Unfortunately, this is the only picture I've got.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could do anything with this photo, as It's looking a bit faded.

The photo is of my Great Grandfather - James McLachlan

Thanks in advance.

James

Hi Kay,

I think you could be right, It's certainly in the correct location.

Thanks also for the link.  That's confirmed it, as Charles Barber is my 2 x Great Grandfather.

I've just had a look on Scotland's people website and found his Death Certificate straight away.  I never realised it would show that much information. It states his Father was Robert McLachlan and Mother was Margaret Wright.  You were right with the Margaret W assumption.

Thanks  :)

Wigtownshire / McLachlans - Inch, Wigtownshire
« on: Monday 05 January 15 21:20 GMT (UK)  »

I'm seeking information on John McLachlan born Abt 1827 in Inch, Wigtownshire.  He was married to Emma Kerr and according to 1851 census, was living in Ayrshire.  I'm struggling to find any birth/christening records, due to all of the variations in the spelling of Mclachlan.  Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

James

Hi,

I've come to a dead end on my family tree, where i cannot trace the father of my Great Grandfather James Mclachlan (Born 1879 in Catrine).  His Mother was Martha Mclachlan born 1855 and died 1936.  I believe she was married a couple of times, however James Mclachlan and his brothers John and Robert Smith Mclachlan, were all born illegitimately - Mclachlan being the mother's name.

I've checked their birth certificates and no Father's name is mentioned.

They lived in Catrine which comes under the Sorn Parish.

Can anyone help with any information on this?

Thanks in advance

James
