Durham / Re: THOMPSON & BAKER
« on: Wednesday 01 March 17 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
::) Hi

Wondering if anyone else may be researching the above names.

I have Mary BAKER born 1867 Sunderland married Thomas Edward Lillie THOMPSON born 1869 Sunderland.  Their one and only child was Nora Lilian THOMPSON born 1895 Sunderland.
Mary's parents were Albany and Mary nee Wilkinson, other children were Ellen Ann. Albany, George Eilley and Elizabeth Jane.
Thomas's parents were William & Sarah A, other children were Francis M & Nora.

Gathered a fair bit of information on both families and willing to share this with interested parties.

Happy Hunting everyone ;D

Durham / OLD - Aycliffe & Sunderland
« on: Wednesday 14 September 05 19:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I am descendant from John OLD born c1785 Aycliffe.  He married Alice KELSEY in 1812 Aycliffe.

Among their 6 children was George OLD born 1813 Aycliffe who married Mary Halliday on 21 Apr 1833 at St. Peter's, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland.  George was a Sailcloth/Canvas Weaver and died 1890 in Sunderland.  George and Mary had 15 children and their daughter Alice b1831 married Thomas POLLEY.

Over the years I have gathered quite a lot of confirmed information relating to the many OLD lines and I am more than willing to share this with other researchers with a connection.

Happy hunting
Sue

Dear Sue,
It seems like Mary Ganly came out of no where when she married Patrick O'Flaherty. At EASTMAYO.ORG they are gradually putting all marraige and Birth notices on line for all to see. I found their sons wedding date that way and I contacted them and they are hoping to have more done shortly.
I am hoping to travel to Ireland next year and go to some churches and lots of graveyards!!!!!!!
Tracey

Hi Tracey

Thanks for the reply.  If I ever come across your Mary & Patrick, I will certainly pass it on.

I hadn't heard of EASTMAYO.ORG, may well have to pay it a visit.  I always feel the internet is in desperate need of more Irish BMDs but have been told that the Irish are very protective and you have to contact relevant parishes to see the Parish Records.

Hope the trip comes off to Ireland, you lucky thing.

Best wishes
Sue

Durham / Re: Death of Elizabeth Hazard, after 1891, wife of James Meggison
« on: Wednesday 14 September 05 18:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi Peggy

Noticed the name HAZARD and as this name appears in my tree wondered if our lines may connect.

My line to Hazard is a very indirect connection.  Thomas Hazard FORSIGH b 1856 Sunderland, was the son of Mary HAZARD b 1825 Sunderland & Thomas FORSIGH b 1825 Sunderland.

Thomas H married Margaret Ann POLLEY formerly TAYLOR in 1895 Sunderland.  Margaret Ann Taylor was the wife of one of my ancestors Charles POLLEY who died in 1893 Sunderland.

Wondered if Mary HAZARD linked to you?

Best wishes
Sue

Did Bartolomew have a sister Mary by any chance?
My Great grandmother was born around 1830 also and also married an O'Flaherty.

Hi Tracey
Sorry Tracey, I do not know if Bartholomew had any brothers or sisters.

Do your GANLEYs feature in Sunderland at all?

Regards
Sue

Hi Holly

Thanks again for the further information.  Unfortunately, my information stops at the 1901 census so unable to say if this may connect to me.  Having said that I wondered if I passed all the information to you would you mind running this past your friend Irene.

I have detailed below details of my G/randmother's brother & his family.

James Arthur Bunting(name was shown as Arthur J) born c1863, he married Louisa KING in 1886, St. Faith's District, Norfolk.  In 1901 they were living Norwich Road, Horstead & Stanninghall and he was a Woodman.

Their children were: Arthur 1883, Margaret Amelia 1887, William 1889 died 1889, William Charles 1891, George Herbert 1892 & Albert James 1894.

If your friend thinks we may connect I can pass on my personal email address as it would be nice to exchange information.  However,  I do understand if she is not interested as I realise not everyone shares this hobby.

Thanks again.

Sue

Hi,
I don't know if this information will be any help or not but it may find you a contact to help you get further back!
I was born in the village of Coltishall (next village to Horstead) & lived next-door but one to a Jack & Iris Bunting who had two daughters, Wendy (now deceased) & Irene.
Jack had a brother in Horstead (?name) who was married & had a large family, Robert, Brian, Beryl, Trevor , Roger, Brenda, Daphne, Peter, Paul, Avril, Eamon & Adrian! They will have been born in the 1940s & 50s. If you could find any of them, they may be able to help. Jack & his brother both worked at Coltishall bakery. Iris is still living so far as I know.
Happy hunting!
Holly Bush

Hi Holly

Thanks for that information.  I will certainly pursue this line.

Cheers

Hi Sue
Only just read your post.
Probably not much help at present, but for future ref. used to know a family called Bunting(an unusual name) in the Netherton area of Huddersfield, early 70s. As Dewsbury and Hudds. are not far apart, perhaps these could be descendants of your lot?
Good luck with your search.
Carol :)
Hi Carol

Thanks for that info, will have to widen the area for my searches.

Best wishes
Sue
