I don,t have any of your names in my Greenshields, mine all seem to be from Kilmarnock, Ochiltree, & Irvine. Sorrt i could,nt help

Scully

Oh I have more. Some are in Kilmarnock (and riccarton, hurlford etc) too and Kirkoswald.

James Greenshields b.1887 Kilmarnock married Isabella M Murray
James Greenshields b. 1880 Kilamrnock

Not sure if that makes any difference. The oldest Greenshields I have is from 1777 - it may be a different line completely. :(

My Carr ancestors are all around Durham and north of England.

Names of living people removed in accordance with rootschat rules

Michael John Carr - 1899 - 1969
George William Carr - 1874 - 1952
John Carr - 1840 - 1909
Michael Carr - 1805 - ? Has a son william born abt 1829
John Carr - 1768 - ?

There are addresses in Chester-le-street, Hetton-le-hole, silksworth, downs, northumberland, tunstall, lanchester, craghead and others.

They were miners, i have a photo of my great granddad with miners and in the war (1st),plus i have photos of John Carr (1840-1909).

Do you have any more information on the Carr line you are looking at - there may be some connections through the uncles that I haven't investigated yet?

I have Greenshields in my family.

Annabella Greenshields born in Kirkoswald, 1855-1934 (married Hugh Murray)
Her parents were James Gillies Greenshields born Monkton (1819 - 1902) and Isabella Moffat born in Fewnwick (1825-1897)
Other children were:

Robert, James, Mary, Agnes, Helen, Hugh, David, Elizabeth & Jeanie

I have James Greenshields parents as Michael Greenshields born Belfast (1777-1855) and Mary Gillies born 1786. Michaels parents as Campbell Greenshields and Annie Gibson. I think I read somewhere about Michael coming from Ireland and changing his surname to green shields from something else.

Any info on the Greenshields would be great.

Ayrshire / Re: James McWhinnie Tarbolton Ayrshire

I just noticed the Mc Whinnie and Cunningham Stewart Oliver in my tree through:

Hugh Oliver Married Margaret Finlayson (5x greatgrandparents)
Their son John Oliver Married Helenora Mc Whinnie ( 4x great grand uncle and auntie)
Their son James Oliver Married Margaret McMurtrie (1st cousins 5x removed)
Their son Cunningham Stewart Oliver Married Margaret Andrews (2nd cousins 4x removed)

This is as far back as I have gone so far with the McWhinnie's, McMurtie's, and Andrews.

Anyone got any more info on them?
