We are researching James Williamson who Margaret Philp also.  In your posting you are looking for proof that Margaret Philp is James Williamson dob Dec 17, 1779 mother.  We found his birth record on Family Search. Parents James Williamson and Margaret Philp.  We also found their (JW & MP) marriage record on Family Search. Jan 31, 1779 in Kinross, Kinross, Scotland.
Do you have any proof of James Williamson, who was married to Margaret Philip, exact birth date and who his parents were?  We know from his headstone inscription that he was 81 when he died in 1832 which would make his birth year 1751.    So far, we have found 5 James Williamsons born in 1751 in Scotland.

MM and I are also decendents of James Williamson and Margaret Whyte.

I too am part of this family and am a descendent of their son, Robert Smails (we have lots on him). For more than 2 years he was a dead end and we are thrilled to now be back one more generation with his parents. I think Lilias Mackie was born 8 Feb 1777 Dunfermline (bapt 16th) to parents John Mackie and Lilias Henderson married 2 April 1774 Dunfermline.

I am a descendent of Robert Smails and Lillie Mackie's son Thomas who lived in New South Wales.  I have quite a bit on the Australian connection.  Have only just discovered Robert and Lillie.  Have been trying to find Roberts immigration to Tasmania.   Also Robert and Lillie's Marriage in Scotland.
Saw a post that marriage was May 7, 1802 in Fife, Scotland but am looking for documentation.
