Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Beckett St Cemetery Leeds William PAPE

Hi Cass,

Yes, I see your reasoning now - it does look as though the William COPE certificate may be the one you want. Hopefully the name of the informant and the address will prove it to be right.
Maybe someone on here has a copy of Doncaster PR's with burials for that time - Doncaster FHS will do a look up for you but they charge more than the cost of the certificate! I think Doncaster library should have copies - it's a bit of a trek for me I'm afraid.

Good luck! Paul

Hi Cass, sorry to hear about the weather, hope it gets better!

I'm not sure why you think the William COPE who died in Doncaster is your William PAPE? Is it William PAPE you are looking for?
If you could tell us a bit more about him it would help us to find his death. Have you found him in the 1881 census (or any others) and are you sure he died in 1889?

I counted 15 William PAPE's living in the West Riding in 1881.

... I have found on the 2nd Edition of NBI a burial in Beckett St Cemetery of a William Pape in 1889
however there are no details of the date of death/burial, or location of the grave, or if there is a headstone.

I think his death is recorded as William Cope Oct 1889 Doncaster W Riding ...

Hi Cass,

This William buried in Beckett St. died in infancy I think ...

Births Jun Q 1889 / PAPE, William / Leeds 9b 422
Deaths Jun Q 1889 / PAPE, William / Age 0 / Leeds 9b 284

I've checked the Beckett St. MI's and there is nothing recorded for Grave 10608 so more than likely no headstone.

The William COPE who died in Doncaster was 69 years old ...

Deaths Dec Q 1889 / COPE, William / Age 69 / Doncaster 9c 447

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Baptisms at Ripon - Myers

Hi Mary,

Looked in Ripon Workhouse for her in 1871 and she does appear to be there.

RG10 / Piece 4275 / Folio 84 / Page 42 ...

Sarah MYRES / Inmate / Widow / 73 / Formerly Charwoman / Yorkshire, Ripon

I'm afraid I don't have Ripon PR's - the originals are kept at NY County Records Office I think, but Ripon Historical Society have published some on CD and I think they probably have filmed most of them now. Completed films are available at Ripon Library apparently.

But I see you're not local so I would get in touch with the Society and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help.

What was Henry's address on the 1864 marriage certificate?

Bessy could be Elizabeth? Just a thought ...

Henry Moss b 1845 Birr Barracks , Living in Leeds, married 1864 Leeds , Beasly Ann Mchale, or Bessy Ann Mchale, dependant where you look, Marriage cert has Beasley, but the newspaper announcment has Bessy. She was 18, on there it has witnesses a Bridget Mchale
I don't think the 1871 census information is right ...

OK, so I'll post this just for clarification ...
