Lincolnshire / Re: Ellen Crow from Asterby
« on: Friday 02 April 21 18:22 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Tazzie and Rosie99.  Just getting my head round this information.

John Crow married Ann Spalding in 1860.
Frank Crow was baptised in 1864.
Ellen or Eleanor was baptised in 1865.
If she was born in 1855 she would have been baptised at 10yr old.  Not impossible!
Ellen was illegitimate to Ann Spalding and living with the Spaldings in 1861.

Thanks very much, Lindoo.

Lincolnshire / Ellen Crow from Asterby

I am trying to find out more about Ellen Crow who was born in Asterby in about 1855.  There's an Ellen Crow mentioned in the 1871 Census where she is in service to a family of Hawson.

Frank Crow was also born in Asterby on 16 Jan 1864 to a mother Ann and father John. In the 1871 Census, Ann John and Frank and others are all listed together.

I am trying to determine whether Ellen and Frank are sister and brother?

Lincolnshire / Re: Hotchin in Scunthorpe

Hello,
I haven’t been on Rootschat for a while but I am still interested in the Hotchin’s family tree.
I met with Arthur Hotchin many years ago and I used to visit Florence when I used to visit Scunthorpe as a youngster.  I also remember Ethel.  I used to visit my aunt Rowena Hotchin Burton quite often but she died several years ago now.
I would really love to see the family tree that you have put together.  How can we do this?
Regards....

Many thanks Geoff E.

I think perhaps that Albert died in the First World War.

Thanks...

So John Thomas HOTCHIN and Maria (NORTON) had 7 children:
Fred, John Henry, Walter, Bertha Emma, Ethel, Florence, and Albert.
You mention 2 as having died: which ones?  I don't remember there being an Albert when I was young!

With John Thomas HOTCHIN born in 1856 in Leverton, are his parents named anywhere?

I am trying to piece together the HOTCHIN family in Scunthorpe area.  I have knowledge of three sisters:
Bertha Emma (born Dec 1884) Glanford B 7a 712
Florence May (b Jun 1893)
Ethel Dorothy (b Sep 1891).
I am sure there were brothers and perhaps more sisters.
Bertha is my maternal grandmother.
How can I put together a family group?

CaroleW,

Any thoughts on the strange mix up on names: Ann/Mary and  John/Joseph?
