Hi Ruth,

Yes he had a middle name it was John Murray Laing(same as son) he was Born 1878 in Scotland.

His wife was Georgina (Bannerman) Laing (Bannerman was her Maiden Name and sometimes she used it as middle name) she was born 1863-1868 year of birth varied!!

Many thanks again

Hi Ruth

Many thanks for replying.

John Murray Laing is her Brother.

A tree on Ancestry has William Laing Marshall Born 1923 died 1982 Dundee KwaZula Natal. (The Father John Laing was a Miner).

Where would I find the records for Dundee KwaZula?

I would just like to know what happened to Joan/Johann Marshall nee Laing.

I understand the restriction re searching for Living Relatives. My main concern is my uncles wife.

Many thanks again

Joan/Johan Marshall nee Laing emigrated to Natal South Africa on 10 September 1925 with her 3 Children;
Georgina Marshall Born 1920
Johan Marshall Born 1921
William Laing Marshall Born 1923.
Joan/Johan Marshall's Husband was my Uncle and he was killed in Fife in 1924.

She emigrated with her Parents John and Georgina Laing and her Brother John Born 1908.

I would like to know what happened to Joan and her Family after they emigrated and if anyone has any information I would be most grateful.

Many Thanks
Joy

Hi Norris,

Many thanks for replying. William Marshall's parents did not come from Fife.

He married Johan (Joan) Bannerman Laing from West Wemyss in 1916 and he went to live there.
Her parents were John Murray Laing (B1878) and Georgina Bannerman (B1863) and they lived at Main Street, West Wemyss. John Murray Laing's Father was John Laing 1838-1907 and Mother was Fanny Laing 1839-1901 also from West Wemyss maybe William is Buried with the Laings.

I have been searching for William Marshall for about 6 years and only this week found him, ie his marriage and Death records (He was my Mother's brother).
Many thanks again
Best regards
Joy
