Thank you again.   I have 13 grandchildren,(5 Gt. Grandchildren) who will be thrilled to have this history of their ancestors.

As am I.

Kindest regards,

Thank you for this information.    It seems that this is indeed the correct family.   I will enter to my Family Tree Maker and I'm sure the pieces will fit.

Thanks so much for this.

I did not have this information for William John & Helen.      I did have the obit for Graham Carson but only because I was there.  The B. French is my son and the others my grandchildren.  My son is in Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and will be there for the foreseeable future then at least one year re-hab.     During numerous moves the personal documents have been lost and the family has unofficially appointed me as family historian.

As an 82 year old shut in I do have time on my hands but have little knowledge about computers and genealogy.  But I am learning and it has been wonderful that so many people have stepped in to help me.  Budgetary constraints do not allow me to join sources such as Ancestry.

If it is not too much of an imposition, would there be an obit for Graham Carson's wife.  Her maiden name was Frances Elizabeth Barnard and that is the extent of my information about her. I do not know her parents or when or where she was born.

My son tells me Graham was with the Army Signal Corp in WW11 but I could not find any record in the Canada Archives.

Again, thanks so much for your kind response.

Hi Kay,  I am so appreciative of this.     In an earlier reply I mis-spoke.  Should have said immigration for Helen Johnston. (Not McTaggart).

I am presently on a fairly heavy meds regimen so it will take a little longer for me than most to absorb and process this data into my Family Tree Maker.  Beats crosswords.

Kind regards,

Thanks so much kind people.

Polar Bear I think Kay 99 has come up with a solution.   The name McTaggart kind of seals it for me as William and Helen's son, Graham, was rumoured to have the middle name McTaggart.  As I understand it, it was not uncommon for children to be given the mother's maiden name as a middle name.

This is so much more than I expected and very much appreciated.

So it would seem William Carson and Helen McTaggart immigrated separately.  An excellent lead.

Kindest regards.

William & Helen Carson are in the 1921 Canada census living in Parkdale, Toronto, at 37 Hewitt Avenue.

The original census document indicates they immigrated in 1910.    I have looked at passenger lists for that time but cannot find a match.      Also checked the 1911 census but again could not find a match.

Both were born in Scotland.  William abt 1883 and Helen abt 1888.

I am an 82 year old senior with limited computer and analytical skills and primarily use Family Search and census records.  Budget restraints dictate against membership in Ancestry, FindMyPast etc.,

Any guidance in tracing William & Helen Carson would be much appreciated.

Just read Anthony's post re Daniel Todd and Mary Barnes.    Guess I picked the wrong horse.  Will have put the delete button on automatic.

Nathan Todd and Elizabeth Bolton coincidentally had a son William born in 1810 in Cockermouth.

Good lesson that even educated guesses in genealogy, without supporting documentation, is a no no.

Regards.

Roy

Thank you guys!

Actually I took a chance and guessed Nathan & Elizabeth Todd would be my next starting point.  Hope to goodness I am correct.

Anthony, on Ancestry.ca I found a public  but it is not identified.  Goes all the way back to Nathan Todd in 1680, married to Elizabeth Jack.

I have not forgotten about the Wilson - Jenkinson marriage certificate.  Will do asap.

Kind regards.

Roy.
