I'm thinking Samuel is still alive in 1841. The 1841 census has Elizabeth as housewife, not widowed. The family was residing at High Street, Bridgnorth at that time. I'm wondering if Samuel was still residing at Listley Street in the public house and the family moved to be away from the pub. Maybe Samuel's business expanded and he needed more room or maybe Elizabeth got tired at living in the pub. Who knows.

Thanks ShaunJ. Listley Street was the address on the christening records.

I've found the christening records for Samuel and Elizabeth's sons Thomas and Benjamin. Although Thomas was born in 1832, he and Benjamin were both christened at the same time on 1 Feb 1835. Samuel the father was listed as being a publican so I'm presuming he was still alive at that time. I still can't find a death record for Samuel though.

Thanks for the response. Have been looking for birth record of Samuel with some of the info you have given and still having no luck. Some of the census records I do have. Still trying to find his death record as well. Hard man to track down. I live in Australia so rely on online records for England. If anyone can help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to find birth and parents of Samuel Barrett born about 1795. His marriage record shows he was married to Elizabeth Price in 1818 at Aston Juxta, Birmingham, Warwick. Parents names were not on marrige record. I don't know if he was born there though. Samuel and Elizabeth were living in Bridgnorth, Shropshire when they started their family. Would appreciate some help as I'm totally stuck.

Australia / BRICK WALL - Samuel Barrett

I've done a query on my Australian Barrett family before - William Price Barrett and his family but I've come up against a brick wall in getting beyond his father Samuel Barrett in England. I can't find Samuel Barrett's birth place and parents. I know he was married on 16 Feb 1818 to Elizabeth Price, Aston Juxta, Birmingham, Warwick, England. They were living in Bridgnorth, Shropshire when they had their children. I've found a copy of their marriage but their parents names were not on it. Hoping on some advice on where to go from here.

Thanks for that. I have the 1871 census for Samuel Barrett Jn and it looks like his mother Elizabeth is living with them. They are living in Kidderminster.

Thanks Keyboard86
It certainly looks like my family. I noticed that Samuel the father is not there and two of the children - Elizabeth and Samuel

Hello Amondg
The family were living in Bridgnorth, Shropshire when the children were born. I know William, my gggrandfather was born there about 1822. The youngest child Benjamin was born about 1835. Samuel the father must have died between 1835 and 1861 because I have a census for 1861 and the mother Elizabeth and child Benjamin were boarders at 8/9 West Castle Street, Bridgnorth.
