I have the following-some of which may not be accurate.
Robert Smailly) Smellie married to Agnes Thomson - Nov. 18,1679 -witnesses are William Martin, Andrew Gray, Matthew Martin, Robert James Gray.  Their daughter, Mary (Marie) Smellie married James Gray  (of Webster Cockcroft ) at Quaker ceremony in  1720.
- Children of James Gray & Mary Smellie - Jean Gray 17Feb1722; William 03Jun1724; Robert  08Mar1727.
-My Matthew Smellie 21Nov1681 m. Jean Anderson (daughter of Andrew Anderson & Jonet Gray 25Feb1719 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Thank -you for your list of names of Families  (Scotland to Godqmanchester, Que. Canada)  Families  I believe may have come from Scotland to Godmanchester, Quebec ,  married in Scotland , or Godmanchester , & settled in nearby areas , and  are associated to Smellie name  are : Mack, Warden, Stevenson, McIntaosh, Reid, Morrison, McNair , Ross Black, Paul, and possibly other,

Gary Bragg   ( I am son of  the late Kathleen Smellie/Bragg last child to be born at homestead farm established by our 1st. ancestor John Smellie , married to Jane Miller, who died.  John remarried Janet Gartshore and sailed to Canada. Janet died at sea on voyage and is buried on or at sea - St. Paul’s Island, Newfoundland,  Canada.

I do not have a James Smellie born 1st. Feb. 1806 listed in my  direct Smellie ancestry line.  My ancestry line comes from Medrox farm , New Monkland , Lanark, Scotland.

Would anyone happen to have an older  map outlining the farm area in Medrox, New Monkland, Lanark , Scotland  that Matthew Smeliie married to Jean Anderson occupied  about 1720. I believe they may have raised their children there.   And also a map of the property location that Matthew  Smellie inherited  at Wester Gartshore when his brother Adam died about 1730.  Would sincerly appreciate any assistance in locating these farm locations on an older map as well as   a present day map.

I have found this info at Gartshore Family Surnames -pafg191-Generated by Personal Ancestry File (Page 1)  "Matthew Smellie was born abt. 1695 in Medrox, New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland."

Another source - Roots Web.com  (Lanark-l Archiver >LANARK> 2002-03> 1015968529

"Maththew Smellie b.1694 Medrox LNK. m. Jean Anderson b. 1698 New Monkland"

"Matthew Smellie b. abt 1694  PLACE. Of Medrox, Lanark, Scotland"

Also:  IGI Individual Record  Family Search Genealogical Index v 5.0
"Matthew Smylie   birth. about 1694   ... spouse Jean Anderson  married abt. 1719 New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland.

I have found some errors on some recorded sites and I may stand corrected with this info I have found.

I have a Margaret Smellie b.  May 13, 1771 (parents) John Smellie & Elizabeth Shanks married 1762, New Monklands, Lanark, Scotland ....Margaret  was married to  John Black b. Aug. 1, 1769 ...they were (married) July 1795 in New Monklands, Lanark, Scotland ...children Thomas 1796, Mary 1798, Margaret 1800, Margaret 1801 , John 1803, Helen 1805, Jean 1807, Thomas 1809, Christian 1810, Janet 1812, Berthea 1815, Adam 1817....end....    QUESTION  Is this John  Black  married to Margaret Smellie related to  Robert Black married to Jean Smellie?

Also something ofi observational interest I have found since researching my line of Smellie form Gartshore & Medrox, New Monkland , Lanark, Scotland to Quebec, Canada - These families may have immigrated from Scotland to Canada at the same time ---  the Smellie, Black, Ross, Mack, and Waddells and Wardens & possibly other families . For  examples - Jane  Millar Smellie married  Peter Black , 2nd husband James Ross:  John Smellie married Margaret Mack, John Smellie married Margaret McLean, Maragret Martin Smellie married  James Warden. ( all lived in Godmanchester, or in close proximity) to Huntingdon, Quebec - Canada.

  I am seeking any/all information to:
 1. Robert Smailly b. 1656 married to Agnes Thomsone  (and parents of Robert Smailly & any previous ancestry  or Family tree) ) -  and heir children Matthew , Adam, David, John, Mary  & who they married.

2. Above son Matthew Smellie b. abt. 1694  married to Jean Anderson and their children Mary, Janet, Agnes, Robert William, John, and who they married.

3. Above son John Smellie  b. 1735 married to Elizabeth Shanks and their children John, Jean, James, Margaret, Thomas, Robert,Adam, David, Helen, Elizabeth, and who they married.

4. Above son John Smellie b. 1763 married to Margaret McLean and their children John, Jean, James , Elizabeth, Mary, Janet , Maragret and who they married.

5. Above son John Smellie b. 1791 married to Jean Miller and thei children John, James, Janet , Jane.  ***  this John left Scotland and arrived in Godmanchester, Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada  where he purchased a farm in abt. 1830.  His wife Jean had died and he remarried -he left his 4 children in Scotland with their grandparents .  John`s 2nd wife (name unknown) died at sea during  the voyage to Canada and she is buried at St. Paul`s Island at the Gulf of the St. Lawrence River in eastern Canada. After John was estabished as a farmer in Godmanchester, Que. Canada he sent for his 4 children .  His brother ( James Smellie married to Martha Paul left Scotland in 1833 for  Godmanchester, Que. Canada with their only son William ...and  John Smellie`s  4 children ( John, James, Janet, James ) James Smellie and  wife Martha Paul also settled in Godmanchester, Que.  and farmed very close to  where his brother John lived.
I am very interested about finding out more about this Smailly - Smellie family members  line in  Gartshore, Medrox or elsewhere in Scotland. I have records of the family ancestry since their arrival in Canada and may  answer any inquiries.

  Thank-You very much for your help and the information you have sent.  I am quite new to the site and my computer skills are very limited.  Unfortunately, I do not know what you mean when you state a "PM" might be better ?  Again, your information will take me to avenues of information I never thought I would  ever see  and for this I am very greatful.
