The Surrey Index of names includes 33  "George Duncomb" references

https://wsfhs.co.uk/pages/sindex/siList.phpsisurname=Duncomb*&siforenames=George*&siplace=&btn=Search

I searched for :   Surname= Duncomb* Firstname=George*

The Albury ones seem to be mostly MIs. If any of the references look interesting send off for more info.  Theres no charge.

Surrey / Re: Alfred Ridley Bax - MI Surveys
« on: Monday 15 July 24 14:39 BST (UK)  »
Richard contacted me direct about Bax's surveys in Surrey.    Bax bequeathed his field notebooks and the fair copies to the Library of the Surrey Archaeological Society

https://www.surreyarchaeology.org.uk/library

West Surrey Family History Society volunteers have photographed and transcribed most of Bax's notebooks.  The names are included in the Surrey Name Index which is free of charge to access.

Surrey Lookup Requests / Re: Cumberland House School Grand Drive Raynes Park

Both West Surrey FHS and East Surrey FHS cover Raynes Park but I would contact the Catholic Family History Society. http://catholicfhs.online/

Raynes Park is in the London Borough of Merton.  Its local studies library may be able topoint you in the right direction:

West Norwood cemetery rang a bell (very belatedly I’m afraid). THe council were taken to court 20 odd years ago for vandalising many of  the graves.  It seems that at least part of the cemetery is subject to Faculty jurisdiction ie Church Courts - Southwark anglican diocese in this case.

This gives the background. — just read management summary first paragraph.

See also the Friends of West Norwood cemetery web site

We have just over 500 names in the Surrey MI Index from this cemetery, but not the ones you are after unfortunately.

Sixth Avenue in 1912 was in East Ham Urban District, now London Borough of Newham.

The photographer’s address - commercial road is in Tower Hamlets — Borough of Stepney (I think) when the photo was taken.

I would be inclined to contact. London Borough of Newham Local Studies Library
https://www.newham.gov.uk/libraries-arts-culture/local-history-archives/1

And Tower Hamlets Local Studies

To see if either can add anything.

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: Questions about how UK cemeteries work.
« on: Sunday 14 October 18 11:51 BST (UK)  »
As iluleah said, it really depends on the contract that the executors signed with the cemetery owner, and the owners rules and regulations.

It's not something one usually thinks about when arranging a funeral, I know I didn't read the "small print" when arranging my parents funerals, and my brother's grave was reclaimed after 50 years which was a disappointment when I wanted to find it.
