Hello Sue,
Thank you for the link that leads to the information about the Crown Pub in Frome. I will certainly stop there for a drink next time I visit and toast the family, past and present! A fascinating archive indeed. I also looked at all the other Frome museum listings and hoped to find Charles Masson, in one of the directories, as a doctor/surgeon, but seems he didn't need to advertise!? The parish records, census 1841, where I found him in he is residing with his wife and 3 children, in Evercreech, a small village 5 miles from Frome, perhaps this is where he practised....

Best wishes,
Frances

Hello,
Thank you so much for all the fascinating leads in to my family history. It has been amazing to find Charles Masson's origins (a long family mystery)  and to find the many branches of my family in the Frome area.

Sue asked about Lucy Cabble. On her marriage certificate she signed her name with a different spelling CABEL. In the parish records, LUCY CABEL, was baptised 12 February 1767, in Wanstrow Somerset, at the church of Blessed Virgin Mary. Her Father was William CABEL , her Mother Lucy CABEL. (Wanstrow is a few miles from Frome)

As there are no baptisms recorded of Lucy Cabble in the parish I assume this is our relation!? It would make her 24 when she married Joseph Joyce at St Johns in Frome, 7 November 1791.

Thank you for the information about the Crown Pub. I wonder how you came to know this? Any details most welcome!

Best wishes
Frances
