Wiltshire / Re: Looking for Baptism record of Louisa Scammell/Scamel
« on: Friday 04 January 13 00:14 GMT (UK)  »
The Louisa Scamel (later Scammell) I'm looking for married William Jackson (later Jackman) in North Tidworth on 6 September 1828 and had a large family that included Louisa Ann (born c1832 North Tidworth), Diana (born c1834 Tidworth), William Henry (born 1 July 1837 Ludgershall, Andover), Walter (born  June quarter 1839 Andover), Joseph (born March quarter 1841 Andover), Allen (born June quarter 1843 Andover), Alfred Thomas (born September quarter 1845 Andover), Erain/Eram/Aaron (born September quarter 1847 Andover), Ellen (born March quarter 1849 Andover) and George Edwin (born December quarter 1850 Andover)

Unfortunately, I don't have either of Louisa's or William's parent's names.

Happy New Year.
I'm looking for the baptism record of Louisa Scammell/Scamel.
She was 53 in the 1861 Census which states she was born in Tidworth, making her birth c1808.

That's amazing. Thank you so much for your help.
I'll start a new thread in the New Year.
Happy Christmas.

That all makes sense. Thank you so much for resolving this.
The name John has continued through all subsequent generations of the Mair family, so I guess it's likely there was a John in the generation before Edward and Ann.

Thank you for replying so soon.
I can see that the John Mair who was buried on 21 August 1834 was probably John Clarke Mair.
But is there a third child John Mair (Mare) (Maire) or (Mear) burial in Warkleigh, North Devon between 1824 and 1833, whose age at death relates to a birth in 1824?

Thank you so much for this information.
In the 1841 Census the five children were Elizabeth, William, Mary, Walter and Thomas.
So presumably both John and John Clark must have died as young children, for although John would have been old enough to have left home by then it's unlikely they would have had named two children John.

I would appreciate help in finding details of the marriage between Edward Mair (Mear) to Ann Clarke
before the birth of their first child Elizabeth in 1828. By 1840 their fifth child was born in Chittlehampton, North Devon.

Thank you.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage Search SCAMMEL/JACKMAN

It sounds very plausible considering their first child Louisa Ann Jackman was born in North Tidworth four years later in 1832. Thanks very much, you've helped resolve a long time blockage in my family tree.

When the William Henry (mentioned in my first post) married his name was misspelt as Yackman! It took me ages to find his marriage certificate too.

Being new to Parish records, I wonder was there any mention of either William or Louisa's parents' names in their marriage record?

i have son William Henry Jackman's birth certificate for 1st July 1837 that mentions father William Jackman and mother Louisa Scamell. But like you I've been unable to find any mention of a marriage.
