Looking to see if anyone has access to Netherlands records.  My Great Great Grandfather was a miner in Broken Hill and reportedly born in 1862 and originally came from Holland at a young age.  He was a private man and never talked about his past and hence I have not been able to find any legit records.  I have since located a "missing friends" article posted is SA Police Gazette in 1909.  This appears to be too much of a coincidence but means he was born in 1867.  The article states his mother Mrs Lelie Hammer was looking for a Thgeodor Rjidus Hammer who is supposed to be employed on one of the mines in Broken Hill - Description - A native of Rotterdam (Holland) aged 42.

It would be greatly appreciated if i could get some feedback on my search

regards

Kathy

Hi  - I am searching for a Thomas Bonner who was born around 1855 - he was the father of a Thomas Bonner Moore (the mothers name was Mary Jane Moore) Thomas Bonner Moore was born in South Australia in 1875.  The birth certificates states that Thomas Bonner was a Seaman at the time Thomas Bonner Moore was born - being that he was a seaman there is a possibilty that Thomas Bonner and Mary Jane Moore did not marry and the child was adopted out.  Sorry about the limited information

Hi All - I have been trying to locate some birth info for a Thomas James Moore (my great grandfather) the only info i had obtained (other than his death information) was that he was born 29 September 1976 which was obtained from a funeral parlour.  I have since located a possible birth certificate, which is attached.  To me this indicates that this person may have been born in the Adelaide Detention Asylum (it is certified by an officer of this department) - I have been unable to find any details from State Records.  This certificate indicates the mother Mary Jane Moore had a son Thomas Moore to a James Bonner - I think the birthdate is too much of a coincedence(being that it is the same date but a different year) to not be the Thomas Moore that I am looking for - any ideas on how i can confirm if this is the Thomas Moore I am looking for :)

Cheers Kathy

FYI - I have obtained a copy of Edward Hammer death certificate - states that he was from England and had been in the Commonwealth for 70 years at time of death. Spoke with a relative today and he believes he was on a ship at the age of 15 (possibly a cabin boy) and jumped ship. It is rumoured that he was originally from Holand and his mother placed him on a ship bound for England at the age of 10-12 years due to a plague outbreak in Holand (research shows there was a smallpox plague 1870-1872)

I haven't been able to identify any ships with his name on it  >:(

Cheers  :-\

Thank you Cando - Love your work. I have now sent an email to the Private Owner.  My father showed me the headstone at Cheltenham a few months ago.  I use to travel to Broken Hill alot but that was before I started this search :(
