Have any of you looking at Carsons Ballyshannon done a DNA test.  would be interesting to see if we have any connetion that way.

Hi, yes it would seem not to be a match.  William Carson must have been the name of the area...lol.   
My grandfather was Robert Donald Carson
    great grandfather Robert James CArson/Elizabeth Fairweather Young........he was a police officer
  great great grandfather William CArson/Ellen Clugston Lyon

Children of William/Ellen were Thomas John CArson,Margaret Martin and Robert James


So not sure f any of this fits in with what you have.  I have just recently gotten this info from my mother

Hi my mother is the daughter of Robert  Donald CArson.  Her great grandfather I believe is Robert James CArson born 1888 in Ballyshannon, county Donegal.He was the son of William Carson and Ellen Clugston Lyon.
  I also have a William Carson born May 1857 and died July 1922 in Ontario.  Apparently he came over on the Tunisian that legft Liverpool and arrived in Quebec in 1909.
