Thank you for the detail. Very interesting. You mentioned that 'Albert Edward Beakhust' born in 1884 had children - Albert, George, Ellen and Gerald. I believe my grandfathers name was ALBERT (sorry, I should know this....but will double check). I can only remember him from when he was living in Crumlin, Dublin with his wife and family.

So you have got back as far as Thomas and Eliza Beakhurst who would have been born around the 1810/1820's ?

Hi Dave

Thanks for the quick reply. I am currently looking up my mothers side of the family which is proving quite interesting as my GGF and his son were actually involved in the 1916 Irish Rising and were part of a little army run by a very famous Irishman - Padraig Pearse.

Anyway, my fathers side of the family - you mention an Ernie Beakhurst. He is my uncle. I too have noticed this Jeanne Beakhu(r)st also in previous searches, but I'd say the connection of movies is purely coincidental. I am living in the UK, however I am from Dublin, Ireland.

I have previously seen the Beakhu(r)st name crop up in the UK (Wiltshire and London). Its an odd name. Would be good to find its original origins. Hope to hear from you again, Terry

Hi Dave,

Where are you from ? Are you related to the Beakhurst's from Crumlin, Dublin ?

My name is Terry Beakhurst, my father is Philip.

I too had heard something about my surname changing years ago, as someone added an R in and it went from Beakhust to Beakhurst

Hope to hear from you, Terry

Hello Barry

I am unable to work out how to PM you ?

Thanks for the quick reply also.

I am only new to all this looking into my family history. Only got into it in the last few years when some one mentioned that there was a rumour DeValera attended my great grandfathers funeral. Supposidley the Lee Family from Rathfarnham were well known (wink, wink). I was born in Rathfarnham and only lived a few minutes from St Endas Park (Hermitage) were Padraig Pearse managed the school. Looking back in the last few days I've seen my relatives being mentioned in eye witness reports, as having left Rathfarnham before the rising, to travel by tram into the GPO when it all kicked off.....all very interesting. If you need to get in touch I'm on Face book and Linked In......there is only one of me out there ( terry beakhurst ).

Would be good to hear from you and maybe you could help in directing me to other sites that may be good or places of interest
Good luck, and thanks in advance, Terry

Hi Barry Lyons

Was this your relative :

Lyons, E. 15 Factory Terrace, Ballybough Road, Dublin

My great great grand father was in Knutsford also (Joseph Lee). He fought at GPO and was part of Padraig Pearses 'army'. His son Hugh Lee also fought at the GPO but did not get sent to England

Am interested in knowing anything you you may know about Knutsford or related info....
