It’s been a long time, but I am descended from a John James who was McLeods Fencibles.He joined up 25 Sept1800 and left when it disbanded in June 1802.  He was born in 1781 in Northumberland.

I have been in TWAS today also looking at the South Shields Workhouse Registers and I also asked the same question about the columns MB H & S.  Hospital is logical for H based on my ancestors entry.  Thanks for the info.
