Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry DNA

Not impressed with this new feature at the moment. Previously i have been 100% British Isles and percentages have varied each time there has been a previous tweak, which is fine. I have now all of a sudden acquired 2% Norway and it is also saying that one of my parents has 0% England which simply is not true. Early days though.

The Common Room / Re: FindMyPast discount subs only to 6 October

I was emailed about this offer and i am tempted to dive back in. At this moment in time i am particularly interested in newspapers and i have been sitting tight for an offer for the British Newspaper Archive. Can anyone tell me how far removed the Newspapers archive on FindMyPast are from BNA? and is the search facility similar? thanks.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but does anyone know of any British Newspaper Archive offers at the moment? I had a deal with it last year for 3 months and found it very interesting. With other subscriptions i can't really afford to pay full price at the moment.

Thanks Rosie, very helpful  :)

I was thinking it might be variations in the spelling.

Thanks for that i wasn't aware. I was more interested to see if anyone with different resources to what i had could come up with a potential parish record for his birth, thus giving me potential parents.

Hi all,

It's a while since i posted on here and i've hit a bit of a stumbling block with this ancestor. In particular i am looking for a possible birth. I know he was buried in Tarvin in December 1845 aged 37. In which time he had married Mary and had 4 children, Joseph (1840), Martha (1842), Mary (1844) and Sarah Ann (1846, christened 6 September) although i cannot find any possible birth registrations on the GRO for these children. I believe his wife was Mary Ball whom he married in St Peter's church in 1833.

There appears to be another Peter Reynolds born around the same time in Dodleston in Cheshire and i'm pretty sure that on certain public trees "my" Peter has been confused with this man.

Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup

By virtue of the GRO referencing I have discovered a glaring error within my tree which I'm now looking to amend. Unfortunately I don't have the same resources as I used to. Can someone help lookup a marriage between John Lunt and Ann Ward at Manchester Cathedral on 14th December 1856. In particular I am looking for their fathers names. Thanks in advance.

Hi RJP75

This was such a long time ago, I honestly can't remember off hand!
I think I might have had some success with the Thomas - let me rummage through my stuff and get back to you.

Thanks sueky71. I'd appreciate that.
