Hi again Ken - you are just wonderful!

I love Rootschat for the generosity of time and spirit that people share here. It's a true delight to be in contact with folk who have so much knowledge about things that simply confuse the rest of us, and are willing to share that knowledge so freely and in such good spirit.

Again, thank you so very much. I shall raise a pint in your honour at the earliest convenience!

Cheers

Ger :)

Hi Ken :)

I trawled through and found this amongst his discharge papers... the 1900-01 active service with KSLI (King's Shropshire Light Infantry) would have been the SA stint. Still, no dates so hard to know if 18 months or no! What do you think?

Thanks again :)

Ger

Hi folks!

I am hoping that one more clever than I might be able to help me understand our Alfie's medals.

Amongst his discharge papers (post WW1) there were the sections below. My question is about the South Africa medals: there was a Queen's South Africa Medal and a King's South Africa Medal but which would Alf had been awarded? The dates on Alf's "South Africa" medals don't seem to match the QSA or KSA. Confusing!

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise, which is always given so generously!

Cheers

Ger :)
