Colin Liddell's book "Pitlochry-A History" says that until WW1, Adam Doggart operated a smithy at Ferry Rd.

That is interesting Isabel. I wasn't aware of any blacksmith Doggarts around the area. I do have 21 Adam Doggarts on my tree though so to have found another one would be no surprise.

Thanks bleckie for other bridge info as well.

While searching through the Dundee Courier for 3rd Mar 1902 I found this article about one of my ancestors.

Quote
A Dangerous Bridge
The Clerk drew attention to the dangerous condition of the bridge erected on Portnacraig Ferry Public Road by Mr Doggart...

The only bridge I can find was a suspension bridge constructed in 1913 so it can't be that one. And that bridge is huge anyway. I'm expecting something much smaller.

Just curious really.

Any old bridge experts out there?

Cheers

Mike

Could you see what you have for Doggart

I have a Hugh Doggart there in 1968 but I would be interested in any Doggarts you find.

Thanks
