Thank you for Alice's baptism

And thank you for the marriage info
I revisited the marriage I found on Ancestry for Charlotte Ferriman Holloway in Sept Witney 1870 3a 984 which has two women and and only 1 man. I looked up the Richard Sillman you mention only to see they have  a transcription error  -the typeface is feint  - it should read 984 not 981 - so that ties in nicely THANK YOU

So Alice is born to Charlotte Holloway who then marries Richard Sylman. In 1881 Alice is shown as Sylman and living with Richard and Charlotte

In 1891 Alice is back to being Holloway living with Uncle Joseph Holloway and Anne Silman is in the house as a boarder aged 3 (Minster Lovell)

In 1901 Alice is married to Frederick James Marlow (living in Hammersmith) and Anne Silman 13 is shown as sister-in-law to head

So Anne is related somehow...
BUT
I have a Richard Silman death Q3 1874 Witney aged 53 3a 408
if this is right he isn't her father
but Charlotte Silman death Q2 1879 Witney aged 38 3a 487 so she could still be the mother

any ideas where I should look next to find out who Anne is? I hoped the baptism would help

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Baptism look up in Witney please
« on: Wednesday 27 July 11 23:48 BST (UK)  »
Evening
Could anyone help me by looking up two baptisms in Witney?

Alice Maud Mary Holloway born 1864 (possible Q2 1864 Witney 3a 627)
and Anne Silman (possibly Q2 1878 Witney 3a 741)

I'm trying to discover if they have the same mother - namely Charlotte Silman (or Sylman)

Any help appreciated - thank you

Hi Vicwinann

Thanks for the contact.
Sarah Ann Mercer's big brother George is my Gt Gt Grandad.
I only know the barest of details about Sarah. I believe she was born Q4 1862 Newbury 2c 212 and died Q2 1898 Newbury 2c 156 (Same quarter as her fourth child  Annie was born - is there a link?). I do not have her baptism or burial info. I know she married George in 1886 in Newbury district but don't have the details of the church etc.

Her second son (Ernest) James has a grandson called Derek who recently contacted me with some information. If you let me have your contact I could put you in touch with him.

Regards

anything is possible....Middlesex, Devon, even Northumberland

John Breese's place of birth varies with every document/census
His obituary in one newspaper says he was a "foundling" washed up on a beach as a baby clinging to a piece of wood after the ship he was travelling on broke up at sea ... he was named by the captain that found him as no-one knew his parents.... :-)

one of the more unusual family tree stories I imagine :-)

Phew indeed! Thank you! At least we can see some of the workings.....when the electronic 2001 census is eventually released to future generations they'll never know how mnay times the input data was changed!

I'll sit and try and unravel the information. My great uncle started 'doing tree' before he died and I am left with his notes. I was trying to ascertain their accuracy before building on them too much.
His tree shows three children for the Harrisons - Fanny born Feb 1837, James born Oct 1839, and William born Sep 1841 (ie three months after teh census), but you found William already aged 1 in the census so I need to to do some more digging around! As I ever I find that one piece of information poses more questions than it answers :-)

Thank you for your help so far....

Sarah
