Hello

I have been looking for information on my grandfather Henry John Johnson,  I have the Kings Medal (South Africa 1901-1902 ) i think my cousin has his Queens Medal.
Regiment number 19150, Driver, Royal Horse Artillery.

I can't find any records for him.

He was one of the children sent to Canada from Barnardo's and I am trying to find out how he returned and joined the RHA. I have tried the site neil1821 posted without any luck.

He was very small and took ten years off his age and joined up "but where" Henry spent the rest of his life working with horses they were his love.

If you have any advise where my next port of call could be I would be grateful for any idears. I have been up to Kew etc.

Regards Barbara

Hi Phil,

MiD posted at last had to shrink the file.

Thank you for taking time to reply, yes we do have a copy of the medal index card but I can't see the Military Medal on there, am I correct?  London Gazette entry?

Thanks for the info on the War diary will follow this up.

As you can see i have finally copied the MiD we can not read the signature of the Major General Commanding  any ideas?

Better make that enough questions for now as I am sure you will hear from Pat as well.

Regards Barbara

We wonder if anyone could help us find out any information about our great uncle Private Edward James Rudd, 422509, 10th Battalion, London Regiment.  He was born in Old Ford, East London in 1894 and died at the Battle of the Somme on 24th August 1918.  We have learnt that he was mentioned in despatches on 24th September 1917 for something that happened near St. Julien and we wondered if we could find out what he was mentioned in despataches for.  Any information would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. Regards Pat and Barbara
