I have the WW1 medals to Richard Foster Ord who was in the 18th Battalion Durham Light Infantry.
His father, also Richard Foster Ord married Elizabeth Brown Carmichael (born Scotland) and was a marine engineer (merchant service) who was drowned when s.s. Thurso sank with loss of all hands in 1894 en route from the Tyne to Hamburg.
The son was born at 38 Alma Road Westoe, South Shields, 3 months after his fathers death.
He transferred to the Labour Corps after being wounded or otherwise incapacitated and was discharged with the Silver War Badge on 19 February 1919.
Regards
Tony
