Nothing on James death beyond the mention in Stephens obituary. Stephen was the grandfather. See attached for the tree as I understand it.

Thank you so much for all that information it makes for interesting reading. This is the Wigmore family I've been looking for. Have you any more details about their father James and his accident?

I can add a little more data for you, Stephen and James were distant relatives of Archbishop Mannix but that's all I know.

The farther James and his brother Stephen both died in hunting/horse accidents about the same time. I've attached a clipping on the death of Stephen (i presume Stephen given the date 1875). Also, there was a brother Patrick who did around the same time it seems he caught an infection from a patient.

I've also attached the obituary of Stephen Wigmore (1816-1909) - this my answer lots of question (and give you lots more)

I am trying to prove or disprove that Stephen born 1876 and James Wigmore born 1878 are the correct family connection. I know they are brothers and I suspect that the ages I have from censuses are correct as they were well educated men. I want to eliminate as many as I can until I home in on the correct brothers but I can't find out much about Stephen and James who were both Catholic priests. I know the Wigmore name occurs a lot in Lisscarrol and the surrounding area and that the names Stephen and James occur in more than one family. It's just finding the right Wigmore family.

From my research into the Liscarroll Wigmores, Stephen & James we the sons of James Wigmore & Kate O'Callaghan. The father James died in a hunting accident in 1877 just prior to the birth of son James.  Their uncle was Rev John Canon Wigmore of Mallow. Hope this helps. I've attached Stephen's obituary. James spent time in Sheffield before going to Australia.

Mystery solved - Olympia was born to John Wigmore & Hanora Buckley in 1813 - her name was incorrectly transcribed as Humphrey on rootsireland. Olympia's brother was Stephen Wigmore father of Canon John Wigmore and Daniel Wigmore of Highfort. Found a impressive obituary for Stephen who die in the early 1900s -  seems the Wigmores were descended from Plantagenet Kings of England.

The obituary is posted on https://www.facebook.com/groups/928847060462770/

There is a John Lenihan listed as a witness on Mary Lenihans baptism. I would assume most likely her fathers William's brother or father.

My g-grand mother was a Mary Lenihan (1856-1919) born in Grange House, Grange, Buttevant, Her father was William Henry Lenahan and mother was Julia Madden.  Not sure is there is a connection.

Hi Rebecca,

Thank you. I will try and get in touch with Dan Canty (he is a cousin of my father so it shouldn't be too difficult...I hope). I know about the Chalice - it was given by one of the priest son's of Olympia. I've also seen the letter from Canon Wigmore (its to a Miss Madigan) and it mentions George Ellard (George may be the son of Edmund Ellard and Honora Wigmore who emigrated to Boston, Edmund was the witness at Olympia & William Murphy's marriage) and most interestingly William Murphy of Maghuist - William & Olympia had a son William but I have no idea where or what Maghuist is. The grandmother in question may be Nora Buckley who I have as married to  John Wigmore. I have basic tree of the Liscarroll WIgmores I'd be happy to share.

Thanks again

John
