Sorry Forfarian,  I didn't want to overload with too much information.

Yes, McLellan was her Maiden name. Agnes McLellan born C 1835
left Birkenhead ,Liverpool England on the TICONDEROGA. 4 August 1852 .Arrived Port Phillip Bay (Australia) 22 Dec 1852. (after a disastrous journey of overcrowding, disease, (Typhus and Scarlet fever).

McLELLAN Janet, aged 18, domestic servant, ,C.J Stelarst? 129 Little Collins street  for 20£ or s, with rations provided.
MCLELLAN Agnes, aged 16,Domestic Servant,  A Balant at Mt.Martha for the term of 3 months for payment of 20  with Rations supplied.
-----
McLELLAN Andrew, aged 43;Ag Labourer , no assignment
McLELLAN James aged 20,Ag labourer, Jesse Rich-indented heads-20-3 months with ration
McLELLAN Alexander, aged 15, blacksmith, ,-A Balant at Mt Martha ( same as Agnes) 20 for 3 months with rations.

It also stated in each line that they were from Lanark, presbyterian, literate.
------
I'm trying to locate Agnes on the 1841/51 scottish census. then hopefully her birth.

Agnes was listed on the shipping manifest under Janet.
The males were listed separately.
The copy of the ships manifest is very blurred.

Agnes married James ASKER in Geelong Vic 1853.
They remained in the area and raised all their children.
William Joseph, 1853
Mary , 1855
James Henry, 1856
Samuel 1857
Alfred 1858
Robert 1859
John 1860
George 1860
Margaret 1862
Alice 1866
James 1868
Ernest 1873
Douglas 1874
Ethel 1877

Lanarkshire / Lanark or Dumfrieshire
« on: Tuesday 01 August 17 13:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,
I have an Agnes Mclellan (born C 1835) shipping records state her birthplace as Lanark, (1852)

Her daughters birth certificate states Agnes' birthplace as Dumfrieshire  (her older daughter was the informant)

I've looked at the 1841 and 1851 census of Scotland, using ancestry (paid member)  but not much luck. I found one family I thought it might be but they were all born in  Stirling with a question mark. (and Janet wasn't listed.)

Also on the ship were Andrew McLellan 43, ag labourer
                                James McLellan-20, ag labourer
                                Janet McLellan-18, domestic servant
                                Alexander McLellan-15, Blacksmith
All were from Lanark, all were Presbyterian, all were literate.
The shipping record didn't state if these were all from the same family.I have a feeling they maybe.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated..

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: BAPTISM look up request

CarolA3,
No luck I'm afraid. The Horatio Collier b 1806 (who looked promising for a minute or so, I found him on the census records 1861 with his wife elizabeth mary and children, so I can eliminate that glimmer of hope. )  ( she would have been the Elizabeth Mary Collins in the marriages)

He's hidden himself well. one criminal record stated his native place as Oxfordshire.
another states it as Crayford, Kent

Thank you very much for taking the time to assist.
Regards
Karen

Surrey Lookup Requests / Surrey Summer ASSIZES 1828
« on: Monday 24 July 17 06:06 BST (UK)  »
Just wondering if anyone would happen to have access to Surrey Assizes -  are they as informative as the "Old Bailey"?
If so I have a few people I wouldn't mind looked at if possible
HORATIO COLLINS alias James tried July 1828 , also his wife MARY COLLINS alias James.
I know they Horatio was convicted with Thomas and William Turner, Mary was acquitted. hoping there's a more detailed report.

Horatio Collins/James was earlier acquitted in Surrey 1824 with George James and William Baker, Horatio was acquitted
detailed report of the trial would be great.

Regards
Karen
