Durham / Re: William Scott/Mary Best - who were their parents?
« on: Wednesday 01 May 13 04:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi Liz and Annette, Yes, I can now confirm that I was on the wrong track when I was tracing "George" Best - it should indeed have been "Samuel" Best, eldest child Isabella (it appears George may well have been Samuels brother). Thank you both for the effort you have gone to. Annette, I would be more than happy to receive any additional info you may have as noted below. Kind regards, Wayne  :)

Hi Crisane, Thanks for the info in regard to costs.
I live in Australia, and need to start getting hold of UK Birth Certificates to a) confirm knowledge and b) give me the next leads, so your tip may be a saving for me.
Thanks for your time and info - appreciated. All of the bits add up and help as I am sure you know.
Thanks again, Wayne

Hi Rosie, Many thanks for your efforts.
I think I told you about my computer woes in another post - hence my late replies.
In regard to Census info, I dont have a lot more than in my original details - much of that has been anecdotal, but I have found a little info over the last few days (only since I got the computer on again).
I think Jane (Train?) may have had a sister, Prudence b. June 1809.
William may have been born 1839 (but need to verify this)
William and Mary seem to have 7 children but not certain about this - Catherine, Isabella, William, John, George, Henry & Sarah - there may be more.
That is pretty much the sum total of the info I have on these people.
Any further help appreciated, but a genuine thanks for your help thus far.
Cheers,
Wayne

Hi All,
Many thanks for your help.
Your info may lead me to solve this riddle.
In regard to Census info I have, the original post (unfortunatley) contains pretty much all I have, so unable to shed too much more light on the subject.
Sorry it has taken me a while to reply to your kind efforts, but I have had some expensive (in both time & $) computer problems. Thanks again for all your help.
Cheers, Wayne

Hi Crisane, Thanks for your help - sorry I havent replied sooner, but have had computer problems that have hurt in both time and money.
The info I have re; the Rutherfords is pretty much contained in the original posting, but I have learnt in the last few days (as I have nly got the computer going again) that her name MAY have been Margaret Hailes (Hayles).
Robert and Margarets daughter Hannah - refered to below is my G.G. Grandmother (maternal line). Hannah married William Appleton.
Thanks again for the help you have provided - it is appreciated. :)

Hi Radcliff, to answer your question, yes I think these people were in Durham in 1851. The info I have in my original post is pretty much all I know about them. Thanks for your efforts, it is appreciated.
