Berkshire Lookup Requests / Re: Stanley Rowland Pocock 1909-1972

Thanks Berkslass, the birth date given on that Baptism matched the birth date of my Stanley Rowland, but the parents do not?  His birth cert shows a Ellen Pocock rather than a Nellie and no fathers name.
I may check the census for this Harry and Nellie maybe they have a daughter Ellen? a place to look! finally :)
crisane i shall check out that census record so thank you.
Stanleys Birth cert also gives a residence of birth 33 Hosier Street any look ups on that address would be greatly appreicated :)

Hi. i have more questions about Stanley and really need some advice. I have since gotten hold of his birth cert and have found that father is unknown and his mothers name is Ellen Pocock who was a mothers help. the problem that i find now is that i cant locate Stanley on the 1911 census nor can i find Ellen living with a Stanley. Now after speaking to my grandparents my grandmother seems to think that Ellen's surname was Cox, so she must have married after Stanleys Birth. I have found a marriage for a Ellen Pocock in the Reading area to a William H Cox. My grandmother thought Stanleys Dad was called Harry. where do i go from here? this is becoming more frustrating by the minute! How can i be sure this is the correct Marriage or even find a birth date for Ellen?
Thanks in advance :)

I am looking for the parents of Stanley, he was born 1909 in Berkshire and married to Mary E Lawrence in 1932 in Reading. He died 1972 in Wycombe. The pair had 5 children. Other than that i have no other information and finding any is proving to be difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Charles Holland 1796 - 1869 Witney

Hi DebbieG i did know that there were lots of parishes but they are covered by 4 cds but if im looking at 2 different areas im looking at about 8 cds covering about 100 different parishes! lots to trawl through so i think i shall push aside Holland line for now and wait untill they become available online! i have plenty of other avenues to look into to keep me busy until then :)

Jenny - the franks line on my tree is looking rather bare, i have only gone back to 1821 and only direct ancesters so lots to keep me busy, and i shall be double checking my tree with yours to make sure im tracing the right people ;)

Thanks for everybody's help!!! :)

I see where your coming from now! 10 childless years, seems extreme, so looking more closely at elizabeth may be a clue if there is a death date leaving samuel to marry yet another elizabeth then to have children with her. But wouldnt a second marriage show up in the surname search of the parish record? if it exsisted? worth getting the parish record for myself? Cannot see another way of finding out where they were or what they were doing in the 10years in between marriage and the bapt. of George and cover 2 different parishes (chipping Norton and oxford).
Not quite sure how i can progress with this side without the cds or waiting a few more months for the records to come online (which according to oxford record office should be about feb/mar time.) feel completely lost with this side now :(

Hi Jenny and thanks  for welcome :)

That samuel looks interesting but he doesnt match the samuel holland above as that samuel had only 2 surviving children charles himself and a younger sister elizabeth. plus the birth date is out for him. unless he is a sibling of my charles which would mean that the parents given by DebbieG would be for a different family. also the samuel given above died in 1812 so wouldnt exsist on any census and would also explain the witness' at my charles and elizabeth marriage.

The samuel you found could indeed be a sibling (going on birth year/place and occupation) which would mean i would still need to find the parents of charles.

Charles did indeed have a son called samuel and naming after a father seems to be quite consistant throughout my tree.

Think I am still very confused with this one :/
