London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Radio Supplies Shop
« on: Tuesday 26 April 16 21:05 BST (UK)  »
In the nineteen thirties my late father-in-law had a radio supplies shop in or new Stebbondale Street. His name was W A Leverton. If any roots chatters know where I can find info regarding this shop it would be great. Would there have been a local newspaper covering that area? He may have placed advertisements. May even be article about him as he had recently finished a spell of duty in the Columbian Navy as a radio telegrapher.Regards Phil

Bedfordshire / Missing house number
« on: Tuesday 19 April 16 20:33 BST (UK)  »
I was born in Henlow Beds in 1938. My birth certificate gives the address as "St Osyth" High Street Henlow. I believe that the name was used as memory of my parent's honeymoon in that Essex resort! I would love to know what the number of the dwelling was in High Street..I moved to Letchworth Hertfordshire when I was three years old so was not of an enquiring age. Can anyone help on this search?

I am trying to find a marriage of George Kitchener (born about 1822 in Hinxworth,Herts) and Unity Barnes (born about 1826 in Asheridge,Bucks)..I cannot find George on any 1851 census..Unity was working as a barmaid in 1851 in Deptford..They are living together in 1861 in Poplar with a newly born son George(born late in 1860 in Portsea,Hants)..Any help would be very welcome..Not only about marriage but whereabouts of George in 1851

OK Mike..So name irrelevant..Would there be a minimum age requirement such as 21?  As he was only a seaman I doubt that any announcement would be made in the press..

Hi KG..The following census for '91 is confusing, William has only aged 6 years!.( He is sometimes known as Theodore later in life)..He was my wife's grandfather I always new him as Dick!.Confusing or what! ?.The three additions to the family between the two counts appear to be Alfred,Ada and Benjamin.I can't find The father prior to 1875 when he married Mary Ann Curle..Any ideas?

I am researching John Lawrence Johnson born in Sweden about 1848..In 1881 census he is with his wife (Mary Ann Curle) and four children..In 1891 there are seven children still in Gravesend but different address..Between the two censuses two of the children have changed names.Minnie becomes Mary and  the eldest son becomes Thomas (or is it James)?..I cannot decipher what the child's name is in 1881..Any ideas?
