My DIL very impressed with speed of all this new information ...as am I!!! She said yes she can remember her father talking about Porter Street. Thomas Finlow was born in Salford and going on age at Death around 1879. I have found a reg birth for Thomas Finlow first 1/4 that year (Thanks for the free BMD web site). Brilliant!
Wow Willsy that's really cool.....I think if my husband went off to war
and left me with 5 sons I'd go home to Mum too!!
or did mum moved in?
Have searched also for marriages Forder and Tarry. It appears Charlotte Tarry married Fredrick Forder in the 4th quarter of 1878. Now looking for birth and death.
D-I-L also said that Charlie Bates (1916), who was Thomas Finlow-Bates's half brother, the youngest of the Bates children, married Lillian's (Thomas's wife) sister.
Thomas apparently called himself Bates not Finlow-Bates most of the time as he was a partner in a Plastering Company with his half brothers.
