HI ALL MCKNIGHT DESCENDANTS, I AM TRYING TO DO THE MCKNIGHT FAMILY HISTORY FOR MY FATHER-IN-LAW. I HAVE RECENTLY WORKED OUT THAT HIS GREAT GRANDFATHER JAMES MCKNIGHT B. 1844 IN OLD CUMNOCK, AYR WAS THE SON OF JOSEPH MCKNIGHT AND AGNES MCKINLAY (WORKED THIS OUT AS AGNES SISTER MARGARET MARRIED A STUART AMOUR, SPELLING VARIES ON HIS NAME). I HAVE NOT FOUND EXACTLY WHEN JAMES DIED BUT ALMOST CERTAIN HE WAS THE SAME JAMES THAT WAS IN AND DIED IN THE MENTAL ASYLUM. ANYWAY I AM HOPING THAT SOMEONE COULD HELP WITH JOSEPH MCKNIGHT, THINK HE IS THE SAME ONE MENTIONED ON HERE BUT THE 1851 CENSUS SAYS HE WAS BORN MAYBOLE AYR (AS I AM IN NZ I HAVE NO IDEA OF THE SCOTLAND COUNTRY AND MAPS DON'T DO ALOT TO HELP). HE WAS STATED AS INN KEEPER OF DUMFRIE'S ARMS AND FARMER OF 50 ACRES. IF ANYONE CAN HELP AND FILL ME IN ON THE ANCESTOR'S IF FOUND MORE THAN MENTIONED ON HERE I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. I NOTED THERE WAS ANOTHER PERSON ON HERE WHO ALSO HAD AN ANCETOR COME TO NZ SO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THIS FAMILY LINE TO AS MY FATHER-IN-LAW'S SETTLED IN FOXTON. 7th November 1888, Calstock, Henry Roberts    age 72   Union WorkhouseTHE DATE OF HENRY ROBERTS DEATH IS DEFINATELY 28 OCT 1886 AGE 66 AS HE IS BURIED IN SAME GRAVE AS WIFE MARY. ST DENNIS MONUMENT NUMBER 281.
I THINK YOU MAY HAVE THE 2 FAMILYS MIXED TOGETHER IN THIS THREAD.

THIS IS WHERE I AM REALLY STUCK When there are 2 Marys and Roberts around same area, age, marriage year etc.... The only way to solve it is.....does anyone have the death cert or info on death of Mary Roberts died 24th nov 1888 age 71 in St Dennis? They can't both of died same day!!!
It will be the one i want if i can sort that part.

Can anyone help? I am looking for siblings and ancestors of Henry Roberts b. 1851 Cornwall. d, 9.7.1926 N.Z.
When he emmigrated to N.Z. in 1872 it states he was a blacksmith, when he died he was a hairdresser.
On his death cert it says parents are Henry Roberts and Mary Hall, that his father was a farm labourer.
His mother Mary died in St Dennis on 24.11.1883 age 71. His father Henry died abt 1886 in St Dennis.
I cannot find a Hall but a Mary Hore is matching in with dates.
