« on: Tuesday 13 October 20 15:51 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information or connections to the Williamson family, in particular James Williamson and his wife Nancy (or Agnes) Miller.

James had a brother Isaac who wed Mary Lindsay, and a sister Margaret who wed Archibald McAllister.

As was typical of the time, they were described as Tinsmiths, Travellers and Hawkers / Pedlars.

All of the above were tried at Aberdeen High Court in 1835 on charges of robbery, theft and assault and all except Nancy were transported to Van Diemens Land, Tasmania in 1836 following conviction.

James and Nancy had a daughter Margaret, and a possible daughter Isabella.

Margaret wed Nicholas Pascal (or Pascoe), then Alexander McPherson.

Margaret and Nicholas had a daughter Alison Pascal who wed Donald Howie.

Thank you so much to everyone who has replied, I really appreciate it 😊

Sad news, we were hoping to reestablish contact as no one had heard from him in a number of years and we've just set up a family page.
Maybe I'll be able to track down his step daughter using the address info, unfortunately I know nothing about her.

Thanks again everyone

Hi,

I'm searching for any information regarding William Francis Shields O'Hara Patton, born in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland circa 1933
Parents are
George Patton, born 1900, Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland,
And
Ann McMillan O'Hara, born 1904, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.

William emigrated to Melbourne, Australia a number of years ago and the family have unfortunately lost touch in recent years. William's wife was named Netta and he had a step daughter from the relationship.

If anyone has any information whatsoever or could point me in the right direction regarding Australian records and where I might find any information I would be sincerely grateful.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Renfrewshire / Re: Fultons in Kilbarchan
« on: Sunday 08 May 16 22:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello I am yet another relative. James Fulton married to Elizabeth Pattison was my ggg grandfather. I too have got to his death where father given as James Fulton and mother unknown McNeil. Sioux sue gives a name of Elizabeth and wondered where you found that?

I'm sorry, I haven't been on this board for some time and have only just gone over this post for the first time in years today while looking over some of my tree.
I am descendant from Joseph Fulton b. Circa 1806 in Ireland (he is my 4 x G.Grandfather) and on both his marriage and death certificates it states that his father was James Fulton and his mother Elizabeth McNeil (my 5 x G.Grandparents)
I am unaware of any definite siblings to Joseph as yet, although have found various Fultons in Kilbarchan who I have long suspected may be related, do you think then that your James and my Joseph could be brothers ?

and wondering if either of you know any more on the Sheridan line, ie parents info and any info on Josephs sister Jane Sherdian ?

Would be grateful for any info you might have on Jane
or Joseph and Janes parents so i can confirm wether this Jane is also an ancestor of mine.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Donegal / Patton and Ferry / Ferrie - Letterkenny, Co. Donegal and Greenock, Scotland
« on: Sunday 25 November 12 23:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I'm looking for any info anyone has regarding the above families.

In particular Patrick Patton b. circa 1867 who married Mary Ferry b. circa 1869.
They married in 1895 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland with parents listed as Patrick Patton and Rose Patton (maiden surname also Patton). And George Ferry and Ellen Ferry, maiden surname Patton

I have combed Scottish archives including BDM and every census and have found nothing.

I've found a marriage for George Ferry to Ellen Patton at St Eunan's-

1854, October, 11 - Ferry, George - Conwal - Patton, Ellen - Conwal

I have also found births for the following Ferry children born Letterkenny all with parents George Ferry and Ellen Patton...

Bridget Ferry, Baptised St Eunan's 1861
George Ferry born 1866, Letterkenny
John Ferry born 1869, Letterkenny
Darby Ferry born 1874, Letterkenny

On Mary and Patricks Marriage certificate the witness is a Darby Ferry which corresponds with the above to suggest he is Marys brother.

I have found a George and Ellen Ferry on the 1901 Census living Letterkenny town,

Also a Patrick Patton and Mary Patton in 1901 Census living Templedouglas, with a daughter Mary Ann, age 3, and,
Importantly with a son George aged 1yr, whom i believe could be my great-grandfather who was born circa 1900 and i cannot locate a birth for him in Scotland.

I've been unable to locate any info in scotland which makes me believe that the above people are the ones i'm looking for living in Donegal as all dates etc seem to add up give or take a year or two which is typical with census info etc, and my grandfather talked of his family coming from Letterkenny although no-one has any specific information on this.

George doesnt show up again until 1925, when he marries in Greenock, Scotland. Has a family there, and dies there 1945.

I've had no luck in tracking down any info regarding the Patton side, although if the 1901 census is correct this states he was born Co. Donegal.

The family seemingly also show up in 1911 Census, still in Templedouglas, this time with a Margery Patton as the head of the family and Patrick listed as her nephew and Mary, Visitor
Again with Mary Anne and George, and also children Charles, John and Bridget.

I'va also found a death for Patrick Patton in 1934 in Greenock, Scotland, registered by a son George.
The home residence is the same as Georges residence on his marriage certificate, and Patricks occupation the same,
However mother of Patrick is listed as Ann Patton (whereas on marriage cert it is Rose), and no fathers details at all.
It also states widower of 1. Mary Fairie, 2. Bridget Paton

I believe the Fairie spelling to be wrong and infact Ferry as there is only one marriage for a Patrick Pat* and Mary F* in the whole of scotland that i can find and that is the one of Patrick and Mary Ferry in Hamilton in 1895, and the details for parents and parents of witness Darby Ferry are exactly the same.
I cant find a marriage for Patrick to a Bridget Paton,
Nor any for his parents, Patrick Patton and either Rose or Ann Patton.

The Ferry name has been spelt, Ferry, Ferrie and Fairie on various documents but i believe the original to be Ferry as per the family details above,
but have no idea if it was at some time changed to Ferrie, as one of Georges daughters has the middle name Ferrie, but again it could be a mis-spelling.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone is familiar with any of these people and has any info on them or could elaborate further on either family.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your reply,

I have Joseph and Margarets Marriage cert, yes 1867 in Largs.

At the time i posted i had only been looking into the Fultons for a day or two and new to census lookups therefore the ages and dates etc where a bit confusing, lol
I've since tied up most of the queries i had then and filling out the tree branches and i find bits and pieces.
I've been doing all of my family at the same time so jumping from one line to another, so it's been a while since i looked at the Fulton line.

You mentioned Margaret being missing from a census, is this Margaret Forrest born c. 1842 in Largs and definitely the 1871 census where she would be approx 29 yrs old ?
I'm sure i have them all together in Greenock in 1871 ??
I may be getting confused as i said i havent looked over the Fulton lines for a few weeks but think Margaret and Joseph are together with 4 kids and Margarets sister also living with them at that time.

to siouxsue.     You are following exactly the same line as me,  as Robert Ralston Fulton is my grandad.   I think I have the answer to where Joseph (the one who married mary ann) was in  the 1881 census.  He shows up still in Largs aged 13 living with his grandmother Ellen Forrest 73 and her other grandson called James Murdoch.  It looks like the rest of the family went to Greenock but he stayed with his Granny.  regards Anne

Anne,
Thank for your reply, I haven't been on here for a while so have only just seen it recently.

Yes, a short while after my initial post i also found Joseph living with Ellen in Largs, also with the James Murdoch.
I've tied up a few things in relation to the Fulton line but not got beyong James Fulton and Elizabeth McNeil unfortunately.

Thanks again

Thanks
