Hi Ancilla,

It could be a distant relation (cousin, aunt, etc.) I can only go back to a John Keefe and Margaret Carroll, but I can't seem to find a connecting Mary with my Keefes. Do you have dates or locations?

Cheers, Jackie

If the guy I found is the right one, there is an obituary for him on www.fultonhistory.com.  It says he was the brother of Leon, Anthony, and Mrs. Albina Sobczyklewicz, all of Poland.

There is a mention of him here:  http://ampoleagle.com/maleckis-meats-promotional-item-brings-back-memories-p6009-202.htm

Shelly, I've looked through all of the ists... Do you have a more detailed web link that I can find it? Cheers, Jackie

Thank you, thank you!! This is my family. My great-grandfather did, in fact, start the Malecki Meat Company. You have been a blessing! Thank you for your help!

Regards,
Jackie

I'm assuming he married after he arrived in the United States. I have no information on Joseph. I am not living in the United States, so my ability to obtain the necessary information is slow-going. I have found him in census records, but I've relied on process of elimination as far as passenger lists.  Opatówek came from one passenger list that seemed to match up with the info I previously had.  I've hit a wall with this information.

A million thank you, Gaie!

He did emigrate to the United States in either, 1912 or 1913. His descendants ended up in Buffalo, New York. He was, indeed, Catholic. I am unsure if Opatówek was where he was from. I'm definitely going to have a look at the baptism record- hopefully it will shed some more light on the subject!

Thank you all very much! Well, the only information that I have is, my great-grandfather's name was Joseph A (Josef) Malecki. He was born 8 April 1893, and I believe he was born in Opatowek. I do not have any points of contact on my paternal side, so my search for this side of the family has pretty much been a long road filled with guesses and dead ends!
Cheers,
Jackie
