Going off at a slight tangent I notice that there is a quote mentioning Warcop Consett ( of Brawith Hall ) and I have just found, amongst a pile of old local papers and documents, an old Tees Bank One Pound note from 19th May 1825 with his name on it.

Percy Appleton was my grandfather's brother. My Grandfather was Ernest and lived in Stockton. The Batemans ( one of them, Jack , I think ) married one of the Appletons and Sarah Nightscales was one of Ernest and Percy's relatives possibly grandmother I'll need to check. We have  info on the Appleton "clan" going back to 17- something and based around Raskelf, Topcliffe and Dishforth ( all villages near Thirsk in North Yorkshire ) and some Appletons still live in that area so probably relations. Funnily enough I just got a suitcase of old photos of family ancestors from my father today ( he's 93 ) and was looking at a photo of Percy. If I can help at all please let me know. Best Wishes.
