If someone applied for naturalization then the port of arrival as well as date of arrival is on the application for naturalization, but not the ship. These document should be on file with the local county in which application was made.

Information of availability at the national level is listed at
www.archives.gov  (search naturalization).  The records themselves are not available on line.

My relatives that arrived in 1850's did not apply for naturalization until late 1880's.  So, one might need to know where they lived many years after arrival to find the application papers.

Prue,

I don't have the original nor have I ever seen the original.  The copy I have is about 4 X 6, but I don't know if that is the orignal size or not.  I'll need to ask some questions of the relative that has the original.

Thanks.

I am trying to figure out who these family members might be.  Can anyone with knowledge of furnishings and attire attempt to help me date this photo?

Thanks,

There was a Humphrey Society.  I inquired with them, but unfortunately they disbanned a few years ago.

You might try posting your search for him at www.genealogy.com.  This is a popular message board.  You can post by surname as well as location.  There is a field titled "Jump to".  Type the surname in this field and it will take you directly there.  It's worth a shot.

I wish rootschat had postings by surnames.  When you're searching a surname such as Charles, it sure would be nice if the search results didn't list everyone with the given name of Charles.

I'm from Texas.  I don't know how they do things in Arkansas, but I am not aware of voter registration information on line.

Good Luck,

Thank you for the info.  The link in the previous response lists The Parish Church - Christ Church as Church of England.  On the marriage cert. that I have it says - The established church.  Would the established church be C of E or Catholic?
