The Royal Commission (Edinburgh) holds an aerial photograph of Penicuik that was taken in 1947. It clearly shows Shottstown and the layout of the streets - the detail is impressive. Ordnance Survey can also provide you with a print of an old OS Map of Shottstown. I had one produced for my Mother, as she was born there in 1939.
