My ancestors are the Copelands from Ireland.  I have been told that the Copelands first came to Ireland in the 1300's. They supposedly emigrated from Scotland. They may be related to Laird John de Copeland. I am trying to verify this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saw the info about Hugh Copeland being the GG Grandfather of Soopy. I believe we may be related.  :)  My gg grandfather was Hugh Copeland.  My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Edgerton. Hugh passed around 1840 and she emigrated to Canada with her 8 Children.  Thought this was worth a mention.
