Hi regross,

I did come across that as well, however on Samuel's death certificate (1896), his daughter Catherine Constance (or Constance Catherine) was the age 9.

Unfortunately we have to disregard this listing as little "Catherine" was not born, let alone 5 at the time.

:( Thank you for the effort though, I really hope they weren't missed. :(

Regards

Ok have had a look at Samuel Henry's death certificate & it gives an approximate date of arrival in Australia as about March 1886.

His death certifcate - 25 Dec 1896 states his "how long in Australasian Colonies or States" as 10 3/4 years in NSWales.

Does this help???

Thank you for all this information.

Where would the best chance of finding a transcript of Samuel's birth record?? & a way of confirming when James & Charlotte's marriage was? I would imagine James' marriage would have his father's details on it for a starting point to confirm these details??

:D You people really are a godsend

Regards

Wondering if anyone has any further luck on this family??

My husband's line is through William C Pearce's line (Also went b Charles W) from his first marriage (1915).

Is there anywhere else other than the state archives that immigrants lists can be found?

Cheers

I just noticed that - hmmm he may have been a bit shifty! Makes you wonder why he was such a jack of all trades?

Poor Emlin! I wonder if she ever knew he "remarried".

Thank you for that location information Valda :D that & the map has helped A LOT!

Jennifer - seriously you kick butt lol I had seen those census for george pearce & thought i must've had the wrong one, he certainly seemed to be a man of many skills  8)

Hmmm I wonder if there are any records as far back as the late 1700's, because now I'm wondering if Samuel Pearce & George W Pearce are possibly cousins?????

Genealogy - never answers, just more questions sometimes lol

I wonder if you could tell me how close St Clement Danes is to Hoxton Christ Church?? Seeing as the 1851 census would have Charles living with Mum & Dad in 1851 at St Clement Danes & the following year Charles married Catherine at Hoxton Christ Church.

Would this have been a likely scenario back then?????

Cheers :)

Oh my,  you people are GREAT!

Thank you Valda, the 1861 census you found would definately be spot on!

I would also guess that Mary Jane Pearce b. dec quarter 1857 would be the one with Jennifer's find in the 1881 census when Mary was visiting her grandparents :D

YAY. One step closer.

Jennifer, I have Samuel Henry's death certificate (he died in Australia, 1896) :)

Being that Mary was born end of 1857, maybe Samuel Pearce did die in the Sep quarter in 1857. How sad he possibly never met his daughter! Not to mention poor Catharine being a single mum by the time she was 28.

Do you think we can assume that Samuel's mother was Charlotte?

Thank you for this information so far.

I am tracing back to Samuel & Catherine (Etherington) Pearce from their son, Samuel Henry Pearce (b. abt 1856) who travelled to Australia with wife & son, about 1886.

On Samuel Henry Pearce's marriage to Ellen Rendell (1884), his father is listed as Samuel Pearce, Civil Engineer.

So far I have been unable to find them on the 1861 Census & have found a death for Samuel Pearce, Dec 1862 but am unsure if this is the correct Samuel Pearce. I also have Catherine re-marrying George Pearce in 1867 & have found them in the 1871 Census, as well as the 1891 Census where Catherine's mother, Sarah Etherington is living with them.

There are so many Samuel Pearce's, I appreciate any help in sorting out which is our one.

 :)
