Australia / Re: Wybong and Denman Cemetery NSW
« on: Sunday 17 February 13 08:39 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks everyone for your replies.  I know according to both Bertie's marriages he was born in or around Wybong near Muswellbrook and he states his parents were John and Elizabeth McKenzie, his father was deceased by 1913  BUT this did his parents pass on in or near Wybong, I haae both is marriage certificates and his death certificate. I have the dissolution of marriage between Berite and Uneta and his marriage and his second marriage to Hilda May Durham
Thanks to all your replies and one in particular I have an avenue to pursue.
How can I thank you all so very much

Australia / Wybong and Denman Cemetery NSW

HI Everyone,

Would anyone have a list of burials in Wybong or Denman Cemetery please. I am looking for a John McKenzie ( MacKenzie)  die between 1890 and 1913.  His wife was Elizabeth McKenzie, she was still living in 1926 either Denman or Muswellbrook presumably.I have not been able to find her death either. They had a son Bertie Clifford McKenzie born about 1891 but no birth is listed on the NSW indexes.  Cheers.

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: Cost of Ancestry for Australians

Hi
Exactly, why should we pay more than the rest of the world for using ancestry. My friend was a member of UK, but now she has to go through Australia. She is also a pensioner and will not be renewing.

Merry Christmas Everyone.
I have been stuck with one particular great x4 grandfather for many years. He died after three years of marriage and two children. My question is if his widow came from anther parish (as did he) would the church have sent her and the children back to her home parish or would they allow her to stay. If she was born in the parish then she most likely would stay but if she came from another parish would  church council (wardens) have sent her back and where could I find this info please.
Thanks
Merlinmagic

Hi Any

I am aware of the exchange rate, back in the 1980's it was on 32-4 cents to the Pound.
I want to join ancestry, but there is a cost disparity. I will join the UK one and see what happens.
Thanks  for your comments.  Merry Christmas,  Merlinmagic

Thank you for your replies, if I have to go to my local library and lds church it would take me a couple of hours, even with booking you only get an hour. Some of us do live in the country you know.
Several years ago another researcher joined ancestry uk, which was much cheaper, but a few years ago they moved to to the au site and she was charged almost double. Unfortunately she could not continue.
I don't think Ancestry are sods, but I think there should be parity on price of subscriptions.

Has anyone taken any notice on how much ancestry costs in Australia. It is lot more more than they pay in England. I am looking at world wide subs and the cost in $450, in England 155 pounds.

The Common Room / Re: copy right of old family photos,
« on: Friday 21 December 12 07:51 GMT (UK)  »
Thankyou very much for all your assistance and information. I do have a website which is locked, only those with a password to access can look at photos but they can also download them with the password. I will take all the replies I have thus far on board and think about what to do. It is a difficult to decide what to do as I have seen photos from supposedly  safe sites copied and then displayed as their own on other site ( if that makes sense).
Please keep responding.

The Common Room / copy right of old family photos,
« on: Friday 21 December 12 05:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering who owns copyright on old family photos. I have many, some taken in England before 1920 other taken in Australia, most before 1900. Many are originals, and they have been handed down by grandparents and parents. I can put them up on a website, what I want to know is can others copy them and display them on their webpages or website.
Suggestions on how to display without downloading or printing  welcome please.
Merry Christmas to all have a safe one
