Many thanks for your input Jim. I have had a look at the engines that you sent and as i am not knowledgable about steam assisted engines i am finding it difficult to differentiate between them.May be i could send you a picture to see if you can fathom it out.
Let me know and i will send my email address

Warwickshire / fire statiion

I have managed to fid out where the Aston Manor fire staton is after a lot of trawling. It was in Upper priory just off Dalton street.
I have 2 questions

1) how far is Stanhope street to (upper priory) Dalton street?

2My ggrandfather was in the fire brigade and after checking the
1891 census i found him working in a copper work as a labourer.
But on the 1901 census he was a stoker on a stationary engine.
I have photo of him on steam assisted fire engine and i am wondering if this was what was refered to on the census (RG13; Piece: 2855; Folio: 107)
I would be grateful for some feed back on these questions
On the photo i have it shows Aston manor fire brigade and they are sat in front of the 2 steam assisted fire engines
hope i have given enough information, has any one got a photo of one of the fire engines as it is mostly obscured
