The Lancaster Fusiliers suffered heavy losses at Spion Kop and the fallen were buried in two length lines of shallow graves, there is however a memorial erected to the fallen at Spion Kop.

Thanks very much for providing this photograph.  I can see my great great uncle listed on it, which is really nice to actually see it.  Very sad though.  thanks for taking the time to upload this photo.  It is much appreciated.

South Africa / Mooi River Boer War graves

Hello,

I have been researching my family tree and I have found that my great grandfather died from wounds received at Spion Kop during the Boer War and was later buried at Mooi River, Natal.  His name was L. Corp or Pvt. William Beckford (3431).  He received his wounds on 24 Jan 1900 but died on 3 Feb 1900.  Is there any chance that anyone has photographs of this burial site or whether anyone in the locality could take a photograph of his gravestone, if it exists.  It's a long shot I know, but you never know until you try.

Thanks very much and I will keep my fingers crossed.
