Hi Squirejay

I am looking to find as much information on a Mary Gibson DOB 21st November 1919 and who unfortunately passed away in 1949 of Tuberculosis.   She is the Daughter of a Anderson and Margaret Gibson (formerly Margaret Chisholm) and sister of a David Gibson ( DOB 1911) and Margaret Gibson (DOB 1906).

I believe that Mary was a nurse at the Royal Infirmary Glasgow (certainly in 1942).

I can see that you have done lots of amazing research into the Gibson family, which I have found most interesting and believe that people in America and Vancouver have also been trying to locate information about the gibsons.

I hope you don't mind me asking if you have any information about Mary Gibson from any research you have done?  I have information of  Mary's death certificate in 1949, and information of the marriage certificate for her parents Anderson and Margaret.   I also have information regarding Mary's mother Margaret's death in 1951.

Thank you!

Rainey J

Monica

Thank you soooo much for your reply, you have certainly given me another root to look into about the nursing.  Really appreciate all your help.

Yes I did see the post about the Gibsons and I will look to contact them to see if they have any information too.

Thanking you again.  Really keen to find as much information about Mary and her family (and if any are still alive) as I can.

Take care.  Rainey J x

Hi Monica.

Thank you so much for your response.

Thank you for confirming about the Census, I did seem to find information regarding her parents and Brother and Sister.

I have looked on Scotlands People, which is a really helpful website.   I managed to locate Mary's Death certificate  where I was able to find out about her parents names and her brother.

I know she was a Nurse in Glasgow and lived in Park Circus Place and want to find out a bit more about that and have had so much help for so many kind people in relation to contacting certain organisations.

Once you start you cannot stop!!!  ;D

Thank you again.

Hi.    Looking for any information anyone may have on a Mary Gibson DOB 21st November 1919 and believed to have passed away in 1949 with TB.  I believe her parents were Anderson Gibson and Margaret Gibson (formerly Chisholm) who lived in Berwick.   Mary was a Nurse in Glasgow (certainly in 1942).   I also believe she had a Brother called David and a sister called Margaret.   Finding it hard to find any Census' showing information on Mary Gibson.

I feel she may be part of my family tree and am eager to find any information about Mary......appreciate she was 29 when she unfortunately passed away, but any information anyone has or can guide me to would be very much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.    :)

Thanks Jim, I will certainly look into that.  It gets quite confusing as to where to look and obtain information especially with limited details that we hold.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Family History Beginners Board / My adopted father's birth mother 1942

Hi Everyone.

This is my first time on Rootschat.....which has been highly recommended to me by a friend.

My father was adopted in 1942 in Scotland.   He now lives in England.   All we know from his birth certificate, is his birth mother's name, area of where she lived in scotland and where she worked.  No mention of a father was on birth certificate.

My Father on and off has been trying to locate his birth mother but has not had much luck.  I think as he is getting older himself, 70 this year, I think he is more and more wanting to find the missing bits of his jigsaw.

I would be very grateful for any assistance in this matter.

Thanking you all in advance.  Rainey.
