Many thanks for your response Jean. I don't think there is a connection with the Royal household in my family, but you never know. My book does not have an inscription.

I think that it is strange that there is no real information on the book - apart from the one that was a delux edition. Ours is obviously the same book minus the delux page and the box.

I did ask a specialist book dealer and he didn't know much, only that to his knowledge they were given out in large quantities to schools for the funeral. If that was the case, I would have thought a few more would have survived and more information would be out there.

If you do come across anything in future, do let me know!

Thanks again.
Regards
Amanda

World War One / Re: cap badge

The problem I have is that I am not too sure which papers relate to my great grandfather. There is a Harry Walker, who served with the 27th Winnipeg Battalion - so I am trying to confirm that the cap badge is actually the 27th. I realise it is incredibly difficult to see, but thought an expert pair or eyes might help!

Thanks for looking

World War One / cap badge
« on: Wednesday 15 August 12 20:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help with identifying a cap badge (not too sure how to upload it). I have been researching this on and off for a couple of years. I am having one more go at it! I can't make the badge any bigger as I do not have the original picture.

I think it is the badge of the 27th Winnipeg Battalion, the pic was taken in WW1 and is of my great grandfather.

Any thoughts, greatly appreciated.
Amanda
