Hi there
His name was Patrick Cronin. According to the 1911 census he was born in Kerry around 1876. Possibly earlier. It shows his father's name as John (Joannis) on his marriage record.

Hi there
We have traced my g grandfather to Old Barracks Fermoy in 1897 when he married my g grandmother. Can anyone tell me how we find out what regiment he was in and also where he might have been in 1901 as he was missing from the census. My mother remembers he had medals but doesn't know for what.
Thanks in advance

Hi there
I posted yesterday and I was a little mixed up between the families. I looked up some info last night. and this is what we have.
My great grandmother was Bridget Whelan from Baltinglass. She was born around 1873. We believe her sister (Mary) Ellen married Denis Harcourt and that she died around 1949 age 72. Making her born around 1877. From what we have gathered their children went to the UK. There was also a brother Patrick born around 1872. And there was a sister (Mary) Anne who had two children Joseph and Patty. We don't know her DOB. We believe their father was Michael Whelan and his wife was Bridget Whelan.
Michael Whelan's brother was Christopher and he was also married to a Bridget. They lived in Rathcoole and also had a daughter Ellen. It was this Ellen who married into the Reilly family.
Hope this may help.

Hi there
No I think his name was Michael. I couldn't access your links yesterday and it would seem to be different families. My g g uncle Patrick Whelan had 5 children Anne, Ellen, Elizabeth, Paddy and another son who we think was called Cyril.
Best of luck with your search.

My great grandmother was Bridget Whelan. Had a brother Patrick. She was born in Baltinglass but records show the family between Carlow and Wicklow. They had two other sisters Anne and (Mary) Ellen

We have references from 1840 Church records up to the 1901 census for Dispensary Lane. Thank you for the info on Dorset Ave. My grandfather lived there in 1911 according to the census.

My greatgrandmother was Bridget Whelan from Baltinglass who had a sister Ellen. They also had a sister Anne and a brother Paddy. She may have been Mary Ellen there has been some confusion in what my grandmother wrote down. Their mother was also Bridget. I would have to look up the father's name. I believe Ellen may have married a Reilly but again I would have to check. Any of this sound right?
