I forgot to put in the place names.  Coolslough, Ballyganane, and Shanagrage are where Daniel (who marries Aunt Johanna Foot) and his brothers and sisters were born.  As far as I can tell you could maybe fit all three places into the area of one golf course, south of Ballygarvan, west of Carrigaline.  Google Earth makes it 51 degrees 47' North and 8 degrees 26' West.

Please don't hate me.  You know. life....  Here's what I have so far:  My brother came up with a birth record for Daniel Mahoney, born at Sallymount (?) August 6, 1866.  His Father is Daniel, and his mother is Joanna Footte.  His siblings are (with spelling of mother's name): Cain (Foott); Margaret (Foot); Mary (Ford); John (Forte); Patrick (Fort).  I know that John (my Dad's grandfather) and Daniel (his cousins Margaret and Mary's dad) came to Boston and settled in Boston and Cambridge.

I apologize for the lag, and will try to be more punctual in future.

I came across your post while nosing around looking for Cain Mahoney who I think was born in 1904.  I know for a fact that my Dad's Great Uncle Dan was married to your Joan Foott (your post of June 24, 2010)  According to Griffith the Mahoneys and Foottes were neighbors in 1850.  There are six children in the family, and Mom's name is spelled six different ways.  I have found reference to Cornelius Footte as the tenant next to Cain Mahoney in the Griffith's Valuation.

I am descended from John F. Mahoney, born in 1857.    I have been at all kinds of family things with Margaret and Mary Mahoney, Joan Foote's Granddaughters.

If you feel that it would be worth your while, let me know and I will send you what I have.
