Hi Irene

Thanks so much for checking for me.  I really appreciate it.  Do you happen to know the address for ordering MI books for England?  I have quite a few books from Scotland, but have never seen any listed for England.

Thanks again for looking.

Hello Jean

Thanks so much for letting me know.  I didn't realize there were no look-ups.  We'll just go ahead and send for the death record.  I'm almost positive the one for Sarah Whittaker is the correct one--not so sure about Samuel though.

Thanks again.

Nairnshire / MI lookup-Geddes Parrish--Rose and Macintosh
« on: Friday 15 September 06 22:15 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the family of John Rose and Margaret Macintosh from Nairn.  They were married in 1845 and had two children, Margaret b 1846 (married George Innes) and George b 1849.  I believe that Margaret was John's second wife--first wife was Mary McIntyre.  John and Mary had a son, David born about 1837.

I have John's death record from 1856 in Nairn and it says that he was buried at "Burying Ground Geddes Parrish of Nairn"  His parents were James Rose and Janet Fraser, and he was born in Ardclach.  Margaret died in 1893 age 85, also in Nairn.  Her parents were Alexander Macintosh and Mary Gordon.

I was wondering if anyone had access to the MI book for this cemetery, and if they would be willing to do a look-up on these folks.

Also if anyone else is researching these families, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Death look up request for Dukinfield
« on: Tuesday 12 September 06 22:02 BST (UK)  »
I would like to request two look ups for Dukinfield, Cheshire.  The names of the people are Samuel Whittaker and his wife Sarah.  I believe that Sarah died in 1867, as I found her death listed on Ancestry.com, and the age fits, age 93, which would place her birth at around 1774/1775.

I know that her husband died between 1841 and 1851, because she is listed as a widow on the 1851 census for Dukinfield.  I also found a Samuel Whittaker on Ancestry, and he died in 1842, also in Dukinfield.  No age listed for him, however, so I don't know if this is the right person.

These folks were my ggggrandparents but before we order the death certificates, I want to be sure that these are the correct people.

Thanks so much!!

Blessings from the Sunshine State of Florida!

Stirlingshire / Drummond and Stewart in St. Ninians Churchyard
« on: Tuesday 01 November 05 20:42 GMT (UK)  »
We were wondering if some kind person living in the St. Ninians area would consider visiting the churchyard and taking a photograph of a tombstone for us.  The people we're interested in are Alexander Stewart and Janet Drummond.

Janet died in 1912, and Alexander in 1920.  They are buried in the old churchyard of St. Ninians in Lair number 547.

A digital photo would be fine, or we would be glad to reimburse for any film and postal costs.

Thanks from the Sunshine State!

I'm trying to find information on the parents of a John Robertson, born in 1829 in Aberdeen.  His parents were James Robertson and Elspet Lowrie/Laurie/Lawrie.  I've found various spellings on her name, and haven't had much luck finding anything on them.

I found James and Elspet on the 1841 census living at Williamston Cottage in Culsalmond with three of their children, Eliza, John and Mary.  Also living with them was Alexander Lowrie, age 40  and Isabella Lowrie, age 2.  I'm guessing that Alexander is the brother of Elspet, but can't find out who their parents would be.

Son, John Robertson married a JANE Robertson on 14 Dec 1854 in Insch.  All their children were born in Kennethmont, and John and Jane both died in Insch--John in 1901 and Jane in 1893.   Her parents were John Robertson and Jane Robb.  I've found a good bit on them, but am stuck on John's family.

I'm hoping some others are researching these lines and perhaps have some additional information on them.

Thanks from sunny (and HOT) Florida

Yes, I would be very interested in any of your Innes information.  Even if they aren't 'mine', I have another Innes researcher from Canada that I share my info with.  If they aren't mine, perhaps they'll be hers.

Thanks

Thanks so much for the information.  It's too bad the stones are unreadable, but I guess after all this time it's to be expected.  Thanks again for your help.
