Hi Sillgen
I believe that the marriage in Racton 1816 for William Barber and Henrietta Eagle is more likely.
William was stated as a cutler on the marriage certificate of his son John Barber when he married Elizabeth Britton in 1837 at St Peter the Great, Chichester, Sussex.
Would appreciate any information about that record you can provide and any possible ascendants.
Many regards

Hello
I can check the archives on my next visit to the East Sussex archive centre, The Keep, which was relocated to Falmer just on the outskirts of Brighton. The Sussex family history group is located inside the new building. The actual village of Falmer is very picturesque and only a short distance away (it is tiny). I'm there most weeks 😃.

JULES,
Thank you for your prompt response. Your offer to check the archives would be much appreciated as I live in Adelaide, South Australia. If I wish to obtain records of his parents' marriage William Barber and Henrietta Eagle in Racton 1816, are you able to suggest how I would best go about this?
I have a feeling that I am not replying in the normal manner but could not work out how to do it easily so I have hit the "Quote" reference.

PHENO, Thank you for your assistance.
Unsure whether I am replying in the correct manner, have hit "Quote" as I could not readily see how to reply to you. Hopefully "Post reply" will get it to you.

SUSSEX OPRs.
I am trying to acquire birth and marriage records pre 1837 for BARBER family members for the county of Sussex. I have found transcripts under PRTSOC.FRONTIS for parishes such as Chichester, but how do I acquire copies of the actual parish records for any births and marriages. I believe John Barber was born on 9 August 1817 and baptised on 17 August 1817 at Falmer, Sussex, (St Lawrence Church), but when I attempt to search for Falmer, I am unsuccessful. Hoping someone can point me in the correct direction such as how to find the relevant Parish Clerks. Many regards SOJAR

my great grandfather Robert Watson, I believe was born in Chelsea London on 25 September 1838 and his father was Charles. I have attempted to find the relevant index on UKBMD but there appears to be a gap from 1837 to 1841 under Chelsea in the district drop down menu. Is anyone able to assist me.  Sojar

Need help to find enlistment details of an ancestor, Private Robert Watson, born c1838 possibly London. Joined the South Staffordshire Regiment of Foot (the 38th) in c1855. Awarded Crimean Medal and later the Indian Mutiny medal after serving at Lucknow.
Hoping his enlistment records might provide his birth date and place etc.
