Hello Cem

Mary HOLLYWOOD's sisters, Bridget and Catherine were in Rotherham at the time of Mary's death.
Perhaps Mary's husband moved there, to be close to family for the children?
Perhaps he emigrated?
He could have also, put the two young ones, Patrick aged 4, and Sarah aged 2, at time of death of their mother, in a Work House?
Bridget HOLLYWOOD's husband did that to the two youngest, when Bridget died, leaving two young children.
I'm a descendant of Catherine HOLLYWOOD who emigrated to Queensland on "Scottish Knight", from Glasgow, after her marriage in Rotherham.
I'd like to hear from you. I've replied to another message you had on RootsChat re HOLLYWOOD surname but you didn't respond.

I am trying to find out what happened to an Irish Imigrant family - they fall off radar after 1876.

James (jas) McParland Ironstone Miner) marries Mary Hollowood in Forkhill Co. Armagh 1861

First son Francis born in 1862 baptised at Coatbridge St Patrick's

Then....
Bridget 1866
James 1868
Patrick 1872
Sarah 1874        - all born and bapstised Dalry

1876 Mary dies registered by her Husband in Dalry

Then...NOTHING, not a sausage, until 1890 when Francis marries in Broxburn. I can find no trace of the others.

I have scoured the 1881 census for any of them. Francis seems to have settled on 'McFarlane' but I have tried McParlan/lin/lane/land/Carlane/lin/land/Farlane/ling/land/Mac - ad infinitum
They just have vanished. Would really appreciate any pointers or help thank you.

Sorry about that misinformation I gave.

Rootsireland hold the Roman Catholic Parish for Forkhill records.

I wonder if they would be worth a try?

"Hollywood" re finding Thomas HOLLYWOOD's parents: If you bought that death certificate, Jan-March 1917 aged 77, and it turned out to be his death (which I'd be surprised if it wasn't), you should get on the certificate who his father was. Once you have a father for him  I may be able to help you go back further with your HOLLYWOODs.  But you need Thomas HOLLYWOOD's father to do  this.  You need to order the death certificate  from General Register Office Northern Ireland.

Response to "Hollywood" re Thomas HOLLYWOOD & Margaret McPARTLAND.
Ireland, Civil Reg. Indexeds 1845-1958 - FamilySearch - death Jan-March 1917 for a Thomas HOLLYWOOD, Newry registration, Co. Armagh age 77 fits in, age wise, with his marriage
22 Feb 1860.
Margaret, his wife, I think was already deceased by 1901, so hopefully the informant for Thomas's death knew the name of Thomas's father

Response re Margaret McPARTLAND and Thomas HOLLYWOOD
Thomas and Margaret were married Forkhill RC Parish 22 Feb 1860.
Marriage sponsors: John HOLLYWOOD and Aley McPARTLAND.
I believe Margaret was deceased before 31 March 1901 (Census night).
Thomas HOLLYWOOD, I think, was deceased before 1921.
I haven't figured out Thomas's parents.

Was this your request Yvonne? Years old now so you're sure to have found what you wanted.

This is in reply to CEM1980 re HOLLYWOOD O'NEIL McPARLAND.

You have that Mary HOLLYWOOD's father, James O'Neil was deceased by 1876.

At the first marriage, also at Mullaghbawn, of another daughter, Bridget to HENRY , in November 1871 he was alive

I believe it is his death, Newry registration, aged 53 in 1872.

I also think he is the James HOLLYWOOD in Household 3 at Carrive/Cariff, Forkhill, Armagh, aged 3.

This date/age fits in with the death aged 53 in 1872.

Household 3 in 1821 at Carrive consisted of:

Felix HOLLWOOD, aged 36, Farmer.
Margaret, wife, aged 30
and 5 children:
Mary aged 10
John aged 8
Peter aged 8 (twins?)
James aged 3 (above)
and
Patrick aged 1.

With Patrick being so young at this Census, there were probably more children born to Felix and Margaret.

James HOLLYWOOD (above) who married Mary O'NEIL are the parents of my g g grandmother, Catherine HOLLYWOOD.
I have also researched Bridget HOLLYWOOD, Catherine's sister.

I would love contact with any other descendants of Felix HOLLYWOOD and Margaret, his wife, parents of Mary HOLLYWOOD born c. 1811;  John HOLLYWOOD born c. 1813;  Peter HOLLYWOOD born c. 1813; my ancestor James HOLLYWOOD who married Mary O'NEIL, born c. 1817 and Patrick HOLLYWOOD born c. 1820.

Thank you.

Through Scottish death records I have managed to discover that Mary Hollowood's parents are James Hollowood (farmer - listed as deceased in 1876) and Mary Hollowood nee O'Neil - Mary Hollowood was listed as a witness at the marriage of her daughter also Mary. I wonder if anyone has any information regarding this family in the area of Forkhill which presumably would have been her Parish?
In 1861 James McParland/McFarlane and Mary nee Hollowood/Hollywood did move to Scotland, originally Coatbridge Glasgow and then Dalry Ayrshire where they had several children;
Francis 1862
Mary Anne 1864
Bridget 1866
James 1868
Patrick 1872
Sarah 1874
All were Baptised in the Catholic Church and interestingly one of Patrick's 'sponsors' was a Patrick Hollowood who I am guessing could perhaps be a cousin or brother of Mary.
Mary Mcparland nee Hollowood dies in 1876 and after this I lose all trace of them in Scotland - no marriages that fit no deaths and no census records where more than one of these names appear together. I also can't find any trace of them on Australian or American records so I feel that perhaps James McParland/McFarlane took the family 'home' after the death of his wife?
If this seems to fit with anyone else I would be very interested to hear from you.

Thank you very much for all that detail on Griffiths.

I do have it, and I'm working on the 1821 Census  of Carrive/Cariff and Mullaghbawn/Mullabane  (for the name HOLLYWOOD as well, using a process of elimination.
Also, the Tithe Appplotment of 1828. Throwing  the Irish Naming Convention in for good measure, has worked, also to a degree.
Thank you so much.

My Great Great Grandparents were James HOLLYWOOD and Mary NEIL.
They had daughters, Bridget and Catherine  from Carrive/Mullabane of Forkhill Parish, Co. Armagh. There were a number of marriages between HOLLYWOODs and McPHARLANE/McPARLANE.
I hadn't made the connection, though, with Mary HOLLYWOOD marrying a McPARLAND.
Bridget died young, in 1887,at Rotherham, Yorkshire.
Catherine, also, died young, 1885, at Mackay, Queensland, Australia.
Another researcher and I have been working solidly, as it happens, on these HOLLYWOODs, for some weeks now.
Patrick HOLLYWOOD appears a number of times as witness but I have been unable to track him down.
Both these sisters married two brothers, KERLEY.
Keep to swap information.
