Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: John Thompson 1833-1910

Came back to this after a long long time!
The first John died young and that's why there was a second John from the second marriage.
The first John did however father a child before he died and that child ended up in Canada with a massive family all of who I'm now in contact with and DNA matched to!
Eliza Leeson was the first wife and Elizabeth Edginton was the second.

Thanks, once again, for all your help.

Hi Paul
I know this is long ago and you've probably solved this issue but now I have it.

My interest is in Lilian's son Joseph Lester Johnson who was the 2nd husband of Lilian McGoldrick who was initially married to my cousin Gordon Sayer.

Interested to know if Joseph had any sublings and given he was only in his 30's when he married Lilian Sayer nee McGoldrick did they have any children.

I know Jack Crutchley married Lilian Johnson nee Thompson 22 Dec 1975 in Nuneaton

Cheers

Alan

However this may explain why my grandfather John was known as Jack!

OK, looking at the Ancestry.com data it's obvious there's something wrong and it does look like Eliza may have been the first wife. Only problem is that that would leave me with two sons called John, one born 1865 and another born 1886. The joys of a common surname!

Yep, bit of a problem not helped by John Thompson not being an unusual name I Birmingham at the time.

Don't think the John Thompson married to Eliza Leeson is the one - Looking at 1891 and 1901 censuses - John was married to Elizabeth and they started having kids around 1886 so probably married about 1885. Elizabeth was ~34 years younger than John
The John Thompson that was married to Eliza Leeson died in Canada and we  know John died in Birmingham as he is buried in Handsworth Cemetary.

1901 census shows them living at 26 Ford streets in parish of All Saints, Birmingham. Have confirmed that this is great grandfather, wife Elizabeth and children
