amazing just re investigating my family history for my 7 year old, i had forgotten all about this thread. amzing i never knew he had a memorial paving stone laid.  is great to explain to my son about his great great grandad

sorry i shoul say she gets a second birth certificate in 14 feb 1934 when she is adopted and adam and bethia arre put in as the parents, with adopted written again in the side column

this hamilton thats down as her mum as always been considered to be the one born 1885 and married to william loudon 1876, not until recently did i discover they had a daughter also called Hamilton sneddon, at the time of my grans birth she would have been around 18. i believe this to be my grans real mother. though she was brought up by william and hamilton (snr) until williams death in 1933, gran was adopted out to bethia gartshore campbell sutherland in 1934.
3 yrs previous to this hamilton jnr was married to a mr kelly.

my grans first birth certificate has her born:
29th aug 1927 , glasgow as bethia sutherland nisbet or loudon

in the colomns is written :adoptee
her mother on this is put as Hamilton sneddon loudon
