LinnettW,

Couldn't reply to your message because have not posted enough to qualify for that privilege.  What I find interesting in this is that Charles' wife Anna is listed on the 1870's census with her parents, son Charles A. Deecken (Jr??), and her siblings.  She is listed as Theresa Dagen though not Anna T. Deecken and her son is listed as Charles Dagen.  The 1870 census did not show martial status. Charles died in 1872 and on the 1880 census, Anna T. Deecken appears with her family at the same address as the 1870, with Charles A. and a George R. who was 7 years old.  Don't know why she was living with her parents or where her husband was.  Obviously, she still had relations with him and had either just had a son or was pregnant with one before he died.  Looking for transport records to see if maybe he went overseas for a period before he died.  Will let you know if anything turns up.

LinetteW, I may have somewhat of an answer to the mystery on the Deeckens.  Charles A Deecken was married to my g-g-great aunt Anna T Reinhard.  The Reinhard family moved from New York to New Jersey in 1870.  It is believed, though I have not proved it yet, that the Reinhard's are buried there.  They were all from Queens so this is not a stretch.  Since he died shortly after the family moved to New Jersey, that may be why he was buried there.  As to why in your family plot, no answers.  Have no Jones in my family tree so far.
